Hi. I have a 2006 vibe. About a month ago I tried to follow the directions in the manual to check the cabin air filter. When removing the glove compartment door I obviously did something wrong, because now it will not stay closed. There is a part that is attached to the glove compartment - a cylindrical plastic part (on the right I think)that obviously should attach to something and is not. I am trying to figure out how to put it back together - any suggestions?Addition: I just went out to try and get a better description of the cylindrical part, and now for some reason the glove box is staying closed correctly - but still posting this cause I don't think it's going to last. For now I don't want to make it not work again by trying to mess with it, but I'd still appreciate any advice on how it does go on there in case it comes lose again.Any pictures available anywhere on how it's attached?Meg
one end screws to the glove box, the middle of it clips on the side of the glove box opening.I don't think it would keep the glove box from staying shut if it wasn't there. It is a damper, supposed to add a litttle resistance to opening and closing the glove box, slow it down just a bit.
I never unscrewed anything when checking the filter. Just felt along the sides for the tabs, pushed them in and popped it down. Gives you just enough access.
