I got a po446 on my check engine:"The PCM has determined that a malfunction exsists in the electrical circuit for the vent control in the evaporative emission control system."I thought it was my gas cap. I re-seated it, and reset the light (pulled battery cable). It seemed to work for about 60 miles, and then the light came back. Went to AutoZone and this is the messege I got.Anybody have any ideas???Thanks
have your car been in a rear end accident? or run over something that could have caused damage to the underside of your vehicle? I ask this because all that emissions control devices are located at the back under the vehicle. Maybe a hose is off on an evap canister. Or maybe a vent solenoid is broken or stuck open. Maybe your gas cap just has a bad seal. I'd lean more towards an electronic evap/purge valve malfunction.

No rear end damage. I did hit a curb pretty hard about two weeks ago. But i did not get the light until shortly after a fill up, several days after jammed that curb.I'm gonna get a new gas cap and see what happens. Thanks for the input. I'll inspect under the vehicle for any loosed connections.
My OBD II scanner book says: PO446 Evaporative Emission Contol System Vent Control Circuit Malfunction. It's not the gas cap. It something electrical in the evap. system. I've had PO449 and PO452 on my GMC truck for 3 years. I replaced everything and triple checked everything and still get the codes. Good luck!
Well I just got my 1st check engine light. I have low miles. It's not the gas cap. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Wonder what sort of info they will share with me? I always ask to be informed of everything.I keep track of everything. Also the FEDs say all emission devices on a car are warrantied for 7 years or 70k. This includes items you would not really expect. I just don't know if that includes labor? We have testing here. So if it fails they must fix it ...for free in most cases till it's past the 7/70k. I fill you in when I get some answers tomorrow.

Just finished bringing mine in for the engine light. They said it's a PO133 code. They say this code means intake leak at startup. Regarding this they showed me a document stating that the intake manifold gasket/orings could need replacement. They will order them. BUT why at just 19k on it? Maybe the manifold is not straight? they said, "we'll see with a straight edge". I suspect they don't want to order a manifold. They were very nice. Especially after I saw oil all over my engine after a 2 mile drive. The tech left the oil filler cap off. The staff was very polite. And cleaned it. Just want a different tech next time.
