Vibes around MI

Post by daverules »

I've seen a ton of Vibes out there lately. I went to the mall just today and parked next to two. I was sorry to say that mine was the dirtiest.

I think you are right about the Vibe becoming very popular in Michigan. Although for me, seeing them around my area is in spurts. Sometimes I will see a bunch of them in a short period of time, sometimes I won't see any. The only Vibe I have seen lately is one in someones driveway that I pass everyday taking my son to the sitters before work. The other is the one a guy who is contracted to work where I do has one and I see his from time to time. But from what I have heard, his car broke down yesterday. I am trying to see what happened. He just picked up his Vibe a few weeks ago. I will let everyone know what happens.

I just got an update from him. It did not break down actually. He was on the highway and there was an accident up ahead. He said he downshifted from 6th to 5th and was then unable to shift anywhere else. The gearshift was moving around in a circle like it was attatched to anything. The good thing was he was near an exit that had a Pontiac dealer near it. The bad thing was he had to stop at a signal before getting there. Being stuck in 5th gear, he had to ride the clutch for quite a while to get it to move. Severe burning smell coming from that I'm sure. But he did get it there. I though I had heard of this happening to someone else here a long time ago, but I'm not sure. I am going to do a search and see if I can find any info for him.BTW, I have been trying to talk him into joining our site here. He is just really busy. I will keep on him about it.

I did find out what the problem was with my friends Vibe GT. The shifter linkage to the transmission came undone from the trans. They reattatched it and everything is fine. I am sure I had seen someone else that had this same problem before. I am happy for him that it was an easy fix. I am still working on getting him to join our site.

Yes he is. It is a good thing he was already slowing down at the time it happened.
