a procedure that may help, or may notIn http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1156 there are some links to downloadable matrix repair manual pdfs most of it applies to Vibes, trick is to know what doesn't. Wheel bearings are the same, (through 07 anyway).
OK, so now I have the diagram & I think I understand ... let me know if this is right ... The wheel bearing is pressed into the steering knuckle? That means that to do the job, the steering knuckle needs to be removed. Am I correct on this?

Base Two Tone Satellite, Auto, & Pwr Pkg....my current commuting car.
looking at the diagram and at a manual for a Geo Prizm (Corolla) ,,, also, I once did this on my older PT Cruiser ... the bearing fits into the knuckle, then the axle shaft w/ the spline slides through. the hub then fits over the spline (usually keyed somehow) .. the large axle nut tightens the whole thing together. SOmetimes when the bearing seizes, the axle spins the whole bearing around in the knuckle or can score the axle ... that's why they also sell the whole assm. but as I remember, that doesn;t happen too often ... they sometimes don;t press the bearing in correctly though (as it seems to be my problem with the dealer right now).
