Idiots! You should only be allowed to use your cell in your car if you have a speakerphone or a hands free set-up. Otherwise you should pull over to take your call. I always use my speakerphone when in the car. My phone is setup so that I can set it to driving mods and it will tell me the number that is calling me. Then I can just flip it open and start talking on the speakerphone. But Driving While Texting (DWT)? That is just plain stupid!!!

Why is our life so revolved around the cell phone any way. I remember about 10 years ago when only people with money had phones. I mean, there were the select few that had the prepay phones, but it was so expensive back then that it wasn't worth it. And about 5 years before that, it was unheard of to have a cell phone. There were the FEW that had the bag phone or soemthing for emergencies, but that was it.... and you know what, people lived back then, they didn't have cell phones, and thier life went on as normal. So what is so hard about waiting the 2 minutes until you stop somewhere, and listening to the voicemail, and CALLING BACK!!!!

as an avid user and reseller of such said equipment and phones, i have ALWAYS used mine. why? because in today's world, if you do not answer your customers questions or help them RIGHT NOW, then you have just lost your customer. I couldn't get to my phone Monday morning and because of that lost a rather large sale to a frequent customer who needed help RIGHT THEN. He did not leave a message even though I got to my phone about 5 mins later. when making or taking calls, i use my bluetooth headset. my new blackberry pearl has voice dialing capability so i can tell it who to call or what number to dial without my hands leaving the steering wheel or eyes off the road. as for texting while driving? i will admit, i have done that. but only when I am at a stop, not while in motion. if i'm in the middle of typing (if you can even call it that) and the cars start moving, i quit and move right along til the next stop, then finish. i don't really suggest doing this, as it's still quite distracting. plus, i'm a firm believer in just calling or dialing the number as I still believe it is safer than texting if you must get hold of that person and drive at the same time.
