Laptop computer care - can I just plug it in?

Post by GoLowDrew »

Let's say I'm running on the battery. Can I just plug in the AC outlet at any time? Or the opposite. If I'm plugged in, and I just unplug the laptop and run on battery at any time? Is that good for the computer? Or should I shut down each time I'm swtiching the power source from AC to battery?

No problem at all, just plug it in or unplug it. I do it all the time.

I am sure this could be put in with the old arguement "Should I leave my computer on all the time, or shut it downevery night?"Different people tell you different things, but the over all opinion is that it doesn't hurt anything. Computers are like cars, no matter what, from the second you first turn them on, they go downhill, they start moving slow, losing power, making noises, having problems.... it just happens. People say that somethings wear at your computer parts, while others say that by the time the parts wear down, your computer is so old, it doesn't matter.Over all, plugging and unplugging won't hurt it. My only suggestion is to be semi careful. I know my plug wore down some, and now I have to turn it and play with it sometimes before it get's a good connection.
