One reason I went w/ Vibe over Matrix, was I needed a roof rack for kayaks and canoe. The rails on Vibe need to be longer, but I did manage to place a cross bar on the back of the rails and then use a window clamp bracket for front cross bar. I used the Thule 4502 Crossroad Half Pack (for Vibe w/ rack)and Thule Fit Kit 2119 (for Matrix w/o rack).Attached is image
This is EXACTLY what I am trying to do. Well... almost. I have a full 450XT rapid rail setup. But I want to get the Matrix half for the front. Were you able to find a half-pack of 2119's? I haven't been able to find one. If you had to buy the whole thing, would you be willing to sell the extra two?

I could not find the Thule Fit Kit 2119 in the half pack. Just so you know they are simply the metal brackets which hook to the Q towers (sold separately). They do come with the rubber foot pad which goes under your Q tower.I paid $49.50 + shipping for full set. If interested in the other two, we could go offline and discuss. For $25 I would send and cover shipping.

Most excellent threat, as Bill would say to Ted. I've been looking at the Matrix/Vibe, and am leaning towads the Vibe due to the factory roof rack. I want to cartop my 14' Laser sailboat, and I would need a rack system exactly as described here.If I understand correcty, the 450XT is the correct kit for attaching to the factory rack? It looks like you can buy the 450XT (set of four) or 4502 (set of two). Obvioulsy a set of two is preferred for the set up Botany describes above. To attach to the door frame, you need the 400XT feet, and the 2199 the correct adapter kit for the Matrix/Vibe? Obvioiusly half of the door frame system would be wasted for this hybrid setup, but I'm willing to eat that cost if I have to.My final question is about crossbars. I have an existing set that is 7-8 years old. They were the standard Thule size for the time, about 1" x 1.5" (maybe slightly less). Any reason that these crossbars would not fit with the newer feet?
One other question. In this setup, are the front bar and back bar at the same height?edit: To answer my own question, the rear bar rides 1-2" lower than the front bar.
Well, I finally got my Vibe and all the roof rack hardware. For future reference, this is all that I got from rackattack.com:Fit Kit 2119 for Toyota Matrix - $49.504002XT Aero Foot Half Pack - $67.504502 Crossroad Half Pack - $69.75LB65 65 Inch Load Bars - $53.10Total - $239.85This set up uses the Matrix Fit Kit in the front and attaches to the Vibe factory rack in the back. Anyone wanting Half Packs will probably need to order them online as I could not find them at any retailers. The only wasted parts are the Fit Kit components for the rear doors. Note two people cannot buy a Fit Kit and split the components since the front door and rear door clamps are different sizes. This is the perfect platform for car-topping my 14' sailboat

Sorry to resurrect a reaaaaallly old thread, but I'm looking to duplicate the setup shown in the photo at the top of this thread, WITHOUT the expensive Thule stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions for "generic brand" equipment that could accomplish the same thing (crossbar setup that attaches to the Vibe side rails in the back, crossbar setup that attaches to the Vibe windows in the front)?
