None of my dome lights work. My moon/sun roof does not work either. I checked fuses under the hood and under the dash. The dimmer switch on the dash still dims the lights on the gauges but won't manually turn on the dome lights. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
tough one. THe ome lights get power from the DOME fuse, the sunroof gets power from the POWER fuse, through the power window relay. I was hoping to see something that could be a common cause for both problems. WHat year car is it, and did this happen all of a sudden? Do you remember anything else weird happening when they stopped working? DO you have power windows, and if so, do they still work?
It's a 2003 the power windows still work. I don't know which relay is for the moon roof. How would I check the relay and where is it located. This has been like this for about 3 months now. It happened all of a sudden. Thanks for your help!
Since both the power windows and the moonroof get their power from the pwer window relay, if the power windows still work, then the power window relay is fine. THe problem is after that.Looking at some wiring diagrams, I see that the wires that go to the dome lights and the wires that go to the moonroof all come off the same connector. It is on the top of the fuse panel under the dash. The easiest way to see it is to stick a finger in the left most dash air vent, and pull hard, the whole silver trim piece will come out. Then look in and down, you can see the top of the fuse block. That is also the main power distribution block for the inside of the car. In this picture, I put a yellow arrow pointing to the connector that carries the connections from this block to the roof, it has both the dome light wires and the power for the moonroof. If nothing is actually broken somewhere, maybe somehow this connector became disconnected from the power distribution block. Check to make sure that it looks like it is still connected, maybe reach in, disconnect it and reconnect it, see if that helps.
Thanks for the info and the pic! It's dark and cold here now so I'll check things out first thing in the morning. I'll leave a post and let you know what I find. Thanks again for your help!
YAHOO!!! You are the Vibe God!!! If you lived nearby I'd buy you a beer! That connector you pointed out in the picture was disengaged! I was able to easily access it by removing the little drawer on the left hand side. (It pulls out and voila...the top of the fuse block is right there!) Pushed the connector down and everything works!!Thanks again for the help!!!
