This is what I will get before this weekend.Compaq Presario http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm...#tabsThe standard memory is 512MB, and I like to add a bit more.I've never add memory to a laptop before, and the last time I added memory was to my Packard Bell PC (that's how long ago).Questions.- Is there another slot where I can add another 512MB? Or do I have to pull the stock 512 out and replace it with a 1G memory?- Does 512 + 512 = 1G?- Does it have to be balance? Meaning if there is a 512 in there, I should only add another 512, and not 1G?- Any "major" brand memory will do? Kingston ok?- All I need is DDR2 memory, right?TIA

get on your laptop, and go to Crucial.com use their memory calculator tool, it will tell you EXACTLY what to get.I've used it several times, worked perfectly everytime....I also recommend their memory, if you have time to wait for it to ship.Balance is best, BUT, if you decide to get (and your pc will support) one larger stick, make sure it goes in Slot 1, if you don't, your motherboard won't recognize it.

Not sure about the newer Presarios, but the older ones had a small access port under the bottom of the laptop. The cover is usually held in place by a single screw. They try to make these things to be accessed fairly easily. As to how many ports you have, I don't know. I've seen some laptops with only a single port (like my older Presario). I've seen others with two. There should be something in the original documentation that specifies the upgrade capability. If not, as they said, Crucial should give you some info. Or, you could simply remove the panel cover and take a look.
