Lexan Fog Lamp cover in Yellow (post if you have them)

Post by Whelan »

I sent M an email regarding these. I have a black Matrix so I think the yellow would look slick on the car, especially at night. But from the yellow pics i saw in the for sale forum they seemed a pale yellow? Can anyone who has these post a pic at night or give me some insight into how "yellow" they are?

bumpanyone, pics?I am debating between this or getting the Lexus capsules from HIDtech.com They are $30 and go right over your stock bulbs so you keep the clear look but have that Lexus bright yellow afterwards!

I have the yellow covers right now, but still haven't installed them cuz one of stock clear covers is currently cracked. If you want though, I can hold them up to the fog lights and get a picture of that? I just can't install e'm yet.

Do they have this deep yellow like the Lex's. That is what I essentially want, plus I kind of like the keeping it clear idea.Granted I lose the protection but I am not sure what people are driving through. I live in the NE and all the sand and crap on the road, not once have I had a cracked forlamp. Maybe pitted a bit but nothing more.

They weren't all that deep with the overlays. They colored the light some, but not much.I had some amber overlays from bluebatmobile before ToolGuy's fogs, those were definitely deep. But didn't look like the Lexus yellow since they were more orange. Along the same lines is Lamin-X, you can find that here: http://www.lamin-x.com/ THey have some yeller film that may be more of what you're looking for. What are the capsules, is that a bulb? I don't trust any of those fancy expensive bulbs, they never last. I found some ricer ones available in yellow before I went with the batmobile things but figured the clear bulbs with an overlay or something would be a better idea.I liked the look of the yellow fog overlays from Toolguy, and you never know - while you haven't had trouble, you may someday. Pretty goofy idea having glass down that low.

No these are what Lexus uses in their OEM fogs. They are an actualy capsule as pictured below that fits over a stock halogen bulb 9006. and thats it. You keep the clear lens but get a much more brilliant yellow that reflects off the stock housing instead of the cheap-o bulbs that eventually fade and flake off. From what I've read on other forums these are very well made and do not fade, many happy customers.

Oh, gotcha. So you could stick it over top of a bulb that will actually last. Interesting product! So it's like a glass version of those bulb jimmy hats that change the color of the bulb.

http://www.hidtech.comthey are under the retro section. I am going to get a set this week and I'll post up plenty of pics. My HIR lows give me enough light at night, I really want these for the looks and bad weather driving. Yellow does reduce the overall output of the bulb but it also increases the effectiveness of the fog lamp during inclement weather by reducing glare off the road. I'll post plenty of pics.

It is not a question as to if they will break from a rock it is when! I can spray the yellow a nice dark yellow. Cononel Panics were not the darkest yellow I can do...See page four of my original thread, PHXlavavibe has pics there. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=16180

Dont worry MiVibe, you didn't lose business. I would still end up getting a set of clear covers from you to protect them since the capsule would not do much for that. So expect a PM in a few weeks in regards. I am currently saving money for my SanFran trip with the lady.

hey guys...I noticed you were talking about my fog light protectors from MiVibe. They do not produce real deep yellow shine but it does add some! I notice a huge difference at different times of the night, especially when I am up close to a curb and such.

My other concern after thinking was that if they are painted, I assume the backside facing the glass is. Because if you did the front, and they got scraped up, you can sand/buff it out again but if the paint was on that side it would possibly come off or scrape through. So i will grab these capsules and get your clear protectors. Most likely the protectors first since I am starting to get nervous about this.

Those yellow capsules are cool! How much are they? I might do the same as you, Whelan. I like that idea.

You cannot do it the other way...The capsules are a great idea!
