Me and my gf both smoke. We are not chain smokers but we have a pack every few days. I have been on and off it since I was 19, and its now even harder to stop when someone else you spend so much time with does it too. What have you guys or gals done or known to have worked that does not cost $$$ like the $50 nicorette stuff. I could go cold turkey but I am not sure if she can stay with it. I hate the habit and just want it over with.
my father-in-law cold turkey'd it and then carried Tootsie Pops around in his shirt pocket where his smokes used to go. I can't remember how long that went on for but he eventually didn't need the suckers anymore and hasn't smoked in about 3-4 years

i know you asked about no money but:I smoked for 30+ years up to 2 packs a day in 2002, then I spent the money ($150.00) to have acupuncture done to quit. I haven't had a cigarette or had the urge to smoke since. I'm around smokers at work all the time and it doesn't even bother me.I never have needed a crutch either. so you might want to check that alternative out if the GF doesn't have the will power.
wow scherry2 thats awesome! this woman I know just slowly startded to decrease the number of cigs a day and then just stopped. but that was just recently so idk if its worked yet
I quit at least every few months, lol. But when I quit it's usually for a good three or four months, and then I just start again. One of the best way I found to control urges is slim jims.... They can't work every time, cause they will start to get expensive, and your gut and (removed) won't thank you.... but for once or twice a day it is nice to have them to curve the cravings.
My mother quit, after smoking for 50 years. She could not smoke for the 5 days she was in the hospital recovering from a quadruple bypass, and did not resume. Far better you quit before you get to the O.R.

It's either cold turkey or acupuncture.I quit for 3 years and started again. When I did quit,I gained a few pounds though, but lost all that renovating my house. It's worth quiting, your health is more important.I think I should take some of my own advice.
