Question about the Stereo's Theftlock on 2003 Vibe

Post by CoolVibe »

I just purchased a 2003 Vibe and have a question about the stereo's TheftLock. My car appears to have it. It has the blinking red light and stickers on the windows indicating that it has it. I want to change the battery and I am worried that the Theftlock will be activated. I did a search on this website and some say that it doesn't really have it. Some say it does. I am confused. I did a google search and found an ebay auction for an xm radio kit. The seller of that auction indicated that the stereo in the 2003 Vibe has a VIN identified Theftlock. In other words, the Theftlock will not be activated if the battery is removed or if the stereo is removed (as long as the stereo goes back in the same car it originally came out of). Is this true?

Welcome to GenVibe! Changing the battery will not affect the Theftlock at all.
