Anybody know a good way to get the foglight bulbs out from the Vibe. The headlights were a walk in the park but the foglights are looking to be a little tougher
Well, I haven't changed either of mine out yet, but I am going to very soon. I have some Silverstars that are waiting to go in when it gets a little warmer. I checked out the front end though and it looks like you have to go from the center of the car and reach up to either side from there. I'm not exactly sure though. Someone who has changed them out already will leave a post and let us know.

Moderator note: I'm moving this response from 'pissedoffgokart' to this topic from the same named topic that was posted twice. Easiest way is to lay on the ground, turn the plug counter clockwise about a 1/4 turn then pull it out! The wire is long enough so you can pull it out from underneith the bumper. Re-installing is the revers. The trick is contorting your arm up underneith the bumper (well, if it is dropped around 3 - 3.5 inches anyway)...

I just changed mine yesterday, it was really easy, just like the previous post said, lay on the ground, twist out the bulb, that's it. and there is a lots of space to work in there.

just did it...that was a walk in the park...in fact it was prolly easier than the headlights...thanks a bunch i didnt even think to get at them from underneath
I changed the fog couple of days ago with Silverstars, and found that they weren't any brighter, just whiter. Is that what you guys see also? does most of you (who changed lights) doing it just for the "white color" look? or is it really for performance.I think Vibe's stock lights are one of the brightest I've seen. so I probably wouldn't spent more money on the Silverstars. I did change them on my other 2 old cars, and it did made a big difference in brightness, buy they were both over 12 yrs old cars, so may be the old bulbs were just tired.

just the fog. I wanted to try out the fog first before buying the headlight, because on Sylvania's site, it listed fog light has higher lumen (1000 instead of 700 for low beam), I thought it would make more differences.I wonder where i can find the lumen ratings for regular bulbs, or other aftermarket bulbs. isn't lumen the most important when talking about brightness? or is the color also important?thanks

The foglamps do make a difference in visibility immediately out front of you and to the sides... as well as in the fog.quote:I wonder where i can find the lumen ratings for regular bulbs, or other aftermarket bulbs. isn't lumen the most important when talking about brightness? or is the color also important? If you saved the bulbs you took out of the foglamps, look at the manufacturer and model of the lights and look them up on their website for detailed into. Most popular brands have the info on their website. I can't remember the brand of the stock bulbs at the moment or I would link you to the info.Yes, lumens [definition] are a unit for measuring light intensity and output, and would be important when comparing bulbs. Remember though that even since the foglamp bulb is rated with higher lumens, both bulbs are of different design and are in a different light housing on the vehicle to optimize their individual purpose.I have the SilverStars in my headlamps and they are a definate improvement over stock.. whiter and brighter in my opinion. You may also want to adjust your headlamp aim a little and that may help out your situation.Headlamp aiming info: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id ... 5#6195Also, the Silverstars have a $10 rebate when purchasing 2 qualified bulbs until June 30, 2003. A nice incentive. http://www.sylvania.com/auto/pdfs/coupon.pdf
thanks. Nsimkins.I will try out the headlights. with fog light, I did not see any improvement on brightness, it is just whiter.like my last post, reading from Sylvania's web site, fog light has a higher lumen than low beam, so I thought it is money better spent.

I think I'm going to get the Silverstars as well for the headlights - last night I installed some Phillips "All-Weather" bulbs in my fogs. They look great, they have a very subtle yellow tint and that iridescent "ION" coating...
