Rant warning - stupid rich people....

Post by Vibr8tr »

So my wife's mom is a Mobile dog groomer, I am sure you have heard of them, she has a large truck, and it has a whole grooming area in the back. Alot of the people she goes too have a good amount of money, and aren't scared to show it. There is one couple, that the husband is the owner of Systel (I don't know if you heard of it, but they are a very big and rich company). I love helping her on that day she does his dogs, cause his wife is always friendly, and he always has cool cars in his driveway. You know the usual rich cars.... an escalade, a Bently, a few (yes a few) Audi's (and there is only him and his wife). Well, the other day I guess he was feeling silly, cause he just went out and Bought (and by bought I mean, laid down a wad of cash and drove out in) a Ford GT. When I heard this I kinda laughed, thinking his wife ment a Mustang, or even a GT500 or something... so I was like... that is cool. Then she stated saying how she won't drive it, cause she doesn't liek the race car look.... my intrest was peeked....She opened the garage door, and like the gates of heaven opened, there was a nice little $150,000, 550 HP, Shiney New happy Ford GT just sitting there...... We now had to take a break for me to change my pants..... ok..... So my rant is.... where is all this money that these people have. I mean how do you get to the point that you are bored with your $750,000 house, your 6-7 cars, your pool, your laarge stereo's and big screen TV's, and say.... "I bet there is some kid out there driving a $8000 Vibe that could use some extra spending money...."I work hard in life, and always have, and I am proud of what I have.... but it still upsets me when I see something like that, and think that what I make in a year, these people spend in a matter of minutes, and don't even think about it, and the whole time, I wonder if I will have anough money every month to cover the bills and feed my family....*end of rant*

The desire for worldly possessions is an obstacle on the path to enlightenment.Got to feel sorry for those people. Imagine how much the Ford GT forum must suck compared to genvibe.

Well we're all entitled to our rants, however I guess I just don't feel like that about rich people. Yeah some rich people inherit and did nothing to deserve the money. But the one you're describing obviously worked for his money if he owns a company that is successful. He is entitled to enjoy the money - after all what is the point of making the money if you're going to live like a poor person? For all we know, he's donating a lot of money to good causes as well. A lot of rich people do. Yeah I too would love to have more money, but I don't expect rich people to stop spending because I can't afford to keep up with them. Believe me, if I get rich, I'm spending - on me, on family and to charity. I'm not going to hide it. I'm not having kids, so there would be no one to pass it on to. I'm going to enjoy it (should it ever happen). I guess thats the end of my counter rant.

we all work hard. sounds like he worked hard to get where he is at in life. nothing wrong with that. it doesn't sound like the guy is purposely flaunting in your face, afterall you are going to HIS house... and sounds like they are pretty cool people to let you see their cars. He could be a real jerk (or his wife) and treat you guys like crap. then your rant would make more sense.... however, sounds like they think of your mom and you as actual people. you know what, i'd love for my business to be as successful as that, or even half or 20%. however, if it were, i'd still be opening up my house for car meets, events, etc, sponsoring programs or organizations like our local SCCA chapter, etc. However, i doubt i'd ever have a Ford GT in my driveway as I don't particularly care for them. Audis, Bentleys, Porches, Subies, etc.... but too many cars isn't much fun either. I'd rather have 2 or 3 maybe (including business) but wouldn't mind a 4th car for a summer roadster! ok, so I was a bit harsh. They are actually pretty cool people. and I don't expect anyone to give me anything for nothing. Like I said I work hard for my money and for all I know he did too. I was just still in shock for seeing such a nice car in person and knowing I wasn't allowed to touch it....But I decided to work it twards my advantage, and see about getting a ride in it... or better.... but that would probably be pushing the luck. And there is no way the GT site has a better forum.... just a more expensive one.

I never met a 'stupid' rich person. There is a difference between working hard and working smart. Maybe you ought to hang a little closer to these people and see what happens. It's my understanding that all Ford GT's have been sold many months before they were even built and the people that were lucky enough to be at the head of the waiting list don't finance cars, or anything else for that matter.

Yeah, I know the feeling.... if you can consider the Wife a Kid, lol. I always tell her I am living two lives on one income cause I pay for everything. And for that while I was working in DC I really was living two lives. I had the apartment, one car, the baby, adn the wife in NC I was paying for, and then I had an apartment, my car and me in DC..... Talk about broke. lol, but it's all good. I am happy with my life... even if money is tight.
