Newwwb

Post by pastfast125 »

hey all. Im a muscle car and truck guy, but my mom has a 2005 vibe, front wheel drive. She was just telling me the other day she'd like to get a smaller hybrid eventually, and when she does she might give me her car. I just wanted to get some info on it.How hard would it be to swap in a 5spd? IMO the car really lags in the lower rpms, so I think a 5spd would really wake it up. What's the 1/4 mile times when comparing a 5spd and an auto? What are some cheap upgrades worth doing to get started? Is there a noticeable difference with performance or gas mileage putting just a simple CAI? I honestly know nothing about vibes, cept I think it would be fun with a 5spd :DTonight I'll do some searching on the forums, but I just figured I'd ask those few questions.

It's not a race car so all mods you do wont give you anything close to what they would do for a nice V8....really the only way to make it faster is with forced induction. The Cold air intake made a noticeable difference but the exhaust didn't, however the Borla sounds great so i don't even care if it added any power.I'm into muscle myself, and im getting tired of four cylinders to be honest with you, they don't have a soul like those big V8s do....when you can actually FEEL them in your bones coming froma mile away. BUT I love my baby Vibe and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world Just the uniqueness of it alone is enough to make me happy. I get a ton of stares everywhere I go and people allways trying to race...course I normally don't race cause I'll get smoked by most cars on the road but i love it.

hah yea I have an 88 mustang 5.0 so I know the vibe is nothing compared to it, but it's still fun, and hey if I get it for free from my mom I figured I might as well try to have some fun in it. I wish it was a 5spd though, I hate autos.

me too. Buddy of mine buys totally cars and rebuilds them, he says Vibes har hard to come by. next one he finds with a manual tranny in it, we are doing a swap. Autos sell better anyways so we would both win from the dela

Welcome to the family! For mods a CAI, Unichip, would give your car some get up and go!

Welcome to GenVibe! You would be better off just trading the Vibe in for a 5-speed of similar value.

well I can't speak for the automatic on the 1/4 but my modified 5spd Vibe does 16.8 in the 1/4... thats just with a cold air intake, exhaust and unichip... pretty craptacular if you ask me.
