My gf couldn't wait so last night she gave me my Birthday gift. Probably cause she was so excited to get some more Tiffany's jewelry, lol. Guys, the little blue box does wonders lol.Anyways, she got me the 30G Black ipod. It's slick and has video. I want to connect it to the car so I guess I need to read up on here so I can setup the connection. Hope it works on an 05.One thing I am amazed by is how good those little headphones work, very clear!
Ooh, enjoy it Whelan! I got my 60G a year ago and I don't go anywhere without it! Got an iHome for work, the Peripheral iPod2car for the car, and a Bose Sound Dock for home. You guys are SET with all of your new electronic gadgets!
Uh....uh-oh--I was afraid you were going to ask that. My boyfriend bought it for me and we had it installed at a shop, so I don't know that much about the 'innards' of it. But I LOVE it. The cable runs out through the little cubby under the shifter--plug it in and go. It charges the iPod also, and you can forward songs on the iPod OR the car stereo. It's a fairly quick install--I wouldn't have been able to do it myself, but I know others on here with some audio experience could no problem. I know some people also have the Harmon Khardon Plug + Play (I THINK that is what it's called) and they like it. There are several options available, depending on how permanent you want--from the FM transmitter to the above mentioned things.
I have the Harman Drive+Play for my Cobalt. The issue with it is that it uses either a wireless FM transmitter or wired FM modulator so you lose a LITTLE bit of sound quality. You also have to find a place to mount another display and the controller for the unit. It does not integrate with the built-in stereo controls. I wanted more information on my display though than what the factory stereo integration kits can offer so I went the HK route. Honestly, with the Vibe, the iPod2Car is probably the best option. Look around in the Audio and Electronics forum. There are a lot of informative posts in there about it.
I went to Best Buy and talked with the guys there about it. Because I have the 6 disc in dash I would have to unplug the CD changer and use this. Not that I would mind since it will hold all of my CD's anyways. It seems they are all in the same price range from $60-100.Here is one you can answer, do you have to use the ipod to change songs and such or can you use the head unit?
Whelan--you can't CHOOSE a song, obviously, because our units don't have displays....but you can skip forward and back to the next song on the head unit. But if you wanted to skip to a different album or artist, etc. you would need to do that on the iPod.
I got an 80 gb from Santa for Christmas - guess I was a better boy than you. I have to say I completely disagree on the headphones though - absolute garbage.
