aux input for mp3

Post by 02csnow »

alright i have searched all over the site on forums for aux input and i understand some of them and dont understand some of them. i have already tried a fm transmitter from belkin and in my opinion they suck. so i did some search through audio shops and found this. just trying to find out if this will work to add a mp3 player to a 06 single cd with sound packagehttp://www.thebettersource.com/zoom.jsp?prod=3598

http://www.thebettersource.com...&dw=3The AAI-gm24 says "Unlike our AAI-GM12, the AAI-GM24 works with vehicles that do not come with factory XM, factory DVD or factory external CD changer. " Unless you have one of those, your link (AAI-GM12) will not work. And it says the vehicles it is not compatible with. There is also http://www.thebettersource.com...&dw=1 But it doesn't say much.

The -gm24 should, but also see the following thread for ones that will work:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=21818

Alright here is my situation, i contacted a couple of the online sellers of pac products and it was stated to me that the aai-gm24 would work with my vehicle. so i got one and installed it today. both of the harnesses are hooked up and when i first plugged in the pac product the accessory on light comes on, but when i try to use my mp3 player it does not work. no green light, and even when i hit the cd/aux button on my radio nothing happens, i have tried hitting it twice and i have tried holding it down but nothing. does the red or orange wire need to hook up to something, the pac instructions say it is for a auxillary power switch. need help http://www.pac-audio.com/instr...0.pdf

the P.I.E. GM12 version 2 will work. I just got mine from Crutchfield, and had to jumper it it differently than they told me to. I jumpered it to XM and I'm using the AM/FM button to select XM1 to make it work. I have an '06 with 6 disc in dash and moons and tunes.

It does need a 12V constant. I addume the orange wirre is for that. There should have been two loose wires on it, one for power adn one for ground. I did not get the PAC, so I don't know. But that is what I would assume is wrong.... if there is no power, the car won't see it there. If the actual PAC is working you should see a display change when hitting the AUX button (mine acts like it's on CD2 TR2, cause it tricked into thinking there is a CD changer there.) Just my 2 Cents

Depending on what version of the aai-gm24 you have, you'll need to connect the Yellow and Black wires coming out of it (if the wires are there, you need to connect them.)Yellow goes to constant battery power - get this from the Blue/White (Blue wire with white stripe) on one corner of the larger factory 24-pin connector. (Splice the yellow wire into this wire.)Black goes to ground. - splice this into the Brown wire at the opposite corner of the 24-pin connector.

it is version 2 gmjap. there is no yellow or black just a orange and a red. it states the orange is for the swi-x output for steering controls and the red is a rap accessory output.

Well, finally got the right parts. Ended up getting the ab-gm12 and a aux box from PAC. Installed this weekend and also did my pocket PC and cell phone charge.

What kind of Foam did you use, cause that is awsome. I have been trying to decide what I am going to do with mine now that I have the AUX input installed, but for now it's just a loose wire

Very nice install, 02csnow. I would also like more "how-to" information on your foam fill.

Its not foam, I used a template of paper to trace out the openings and then cut it out of wood and picked up some cloth from wal-mart. Hey Vibr8tr if u want to wait till the ba meet in april i can help you out with it, just let me know.

Awsome. I am thinking of doing that, but putting it in the fip up part of the Center consol, cause I use the little cubby area at the bottom for other things (IE, my cell phone, smokes, my wallet etc.)The other thing I would LOVE help with at the meet is someone to show me how they got cords under the carpet right there.
