WOOOOOO!!!Only thing better than getting an iPod for the holidays was finally getting my car integration kit installed today! Bought it from a company called Integration Solutions via ebay. The manufacturer is AXXESS, which is actually a subsidary of Metra. This unit goes inline between one of the harnesses on the radio and creates an additional "band" to support my iPod. I now flip through bands as follows:FM1 > FM2 > AM > XM1 > XM2 > FM1 > FM2 > AM > iPod > iPod > etc...I know...lots of button presses. It's all good though. The iPod - when connected to the car, charges its battery, and gets hidden away out of view. All my controls are done directly though the radio. Including enable/disable of shuffle, scrolling through and selecting playlists, selecting a specific artist/genre/album and playing just those songs, etc. It also displays song/artist/etc. when available, as it would for an XM station. It's friggen awesome. Install was a bit tricky, as I had to cut the power lead to the XM receiver and put a relay in. The brain of the integration kit cuts power to the XM receiver to allow the radio to access the iPod. The XM receiver is on my rear deck, so I had to put in a relay back there, and run wiring all the way up front to the radio. Everything else was a breeze though. Truly one of the coolest products I've gotten my hands on. If you guys ever have the opportunity to buy from Integration Solutions (via ebay), I HIGHLY recommend them. They went out of their way to make sure I had everything i needed to do the install, prewired the relay and wire harnesses for me, and even provided phone support when I hit a snag. Fantastic company! Here are some photos:The interface disables the screen and click wheel when connected to the iPod:The brain of the interface mounted below the radio. Note the radio display says "iPod In":iPod connection is hidden inside armrest:iPod connected, charging it's battery, and pumping some tunes:BEFORE SOMEBODY ASKS! NO, this is not available for the Vibe! This is a GMLAN interface kit, and will NOT work with the Vibe. Thank you, come again!
