My remote to my 2003 Vibe is working fine, but I actually tried to use my key to manually open my doors and it would not open either the driver, passenger door, or hatch. I tried my regular and spare key. Anybody have any ideas? Do I just need to apply some WD40? I had not tried to use my key in quite a while.
Welcome to GenVibe! WD-40 should work. Let it soak for a while then try it again. Re-apply if needed. Just be prepared for it to spray back out of the keyhole at you, so don't put your face down there when you spray. Or better yet throw on some safety glasses/goggles. You eyes will thank you later. Also, make sure you have something ready to wipe it off the paint, asap. Good Luck! Let us know how it works.

And, apparently the same key can be used on the ignition.I have a car with remote that I use all the time. When I tried to use the key on the door locks and trunk recently, they were locked up. I guess the tumblers get stiff from lack of use. Solution was liquid graphite used for locks.
That which may be known of God is evident within man, for God has shown it to them, so that they are without excuse.(Romans 1:19-20) What do you want most in life?
Yeah... it has opened the door in the past. Am just so reliant on the remote that I rarely have used the key to open the door. But you never know if the remote battery might decide to give up when you are in the middle of Timbuktu. I will try the graphite!
locks stiff from lack of use is a lot better than someone getting a Vibe and having the ignition lock keyed differently than the doors, which would prompt the question "which locks were replaced, and why?".Welcome to genvibe!
