About Meguiars

Post by VivaVibe »

After wiping down my dash with clear water and a clean micro-towel, then drying it off, it had an uneven color to it and was very dull. As if whatever was used on it left a stain. I wiped it again and waited about three hours to be sure it was dry. Still the same pattern. I figured I removed all the oily conditioner that had been used. Some of you highly recommended Meguiar products, and I'm not too keen on Armour All stuff. I picked up some M. Quick Interior Detailer which says it works on all interior surfaces. Following the directions to do a small area at a time, to spray-spread and then wipe dry with a clean towel. It then had an even tone, but is still pretty flat and dull looking. I don't want a high sheen, but a little would look better than dull. Will continued use of the Meguiars make it look better?I also noticed the top half of the dash is a lighter tone than the bottom, which I guess is normal, although I didn't notice that before. I think I have a the darker interior.A closer look while cleaning also shows I probably should have the seats shampooed. Would taking it to a local detail guy be best or should I try to do it myself?Advice is appreciated, especially from those that know the Meguiar products well.

I agree with you. Armaour all has been known to damage plastics after prolong usage. To clean the interior of my cars, i've used Clorox Wipes. So far so good. Plus i'm more concern with actually actually cleaned.shampoing isn't difficult, and tons cheaper than having someone else do it. So try and see what resulst you get.

I've used Simple Green on the hard plastic for getting out tough marks, but thought it might be too harsh for the dash. Do you use it on everything? Perhaps diluted for some things?

simple green comes in concentrate form.. you should dilute it anyways... I have always done a mix of one part concentrate to 10 parts water

This stuff works great on the Vibe's "matte" dash:

I use the armoral wipes that just clean and don't polish...been using it three years without any effects. They do a great job cleaning everything including the seats.

i don't want the glossy dash i had in previous cars because of the fact that they attract dust n crap 235987 times faster, and since i live in palm desert, i'd be cleanin n dustin the dash every hour. so i clean my dash n leather seats w/ baby wipes. as long as i have enough to clean my shoes too
