I traded in my '06 Colorado Crew Cab for my '06 Vibe AWD. Worst vehicle I ever owned....

Talk about marketing hype, the H3 and H2 are both severely castrated versions of the original H1. If you look under the H3 and H2, you see virtually the same suspension components that a regular 4WD Chevy P/U has. So, with the Colorado Plus you get P/U suspension under a P/U.......wow, what a novel idea. Now the 5.3L V8, that ought to be fun.

I'll bet even toyota looks like a hummer when your under it.

doesn't sound so bad to me:With speeds rarely exceeding 5 mph, the H3s truly are adept and nimble climbers. There's a lot of travel in the suspension, the approach angles are generous, the steering is precise but doesn't buck much when pounding into rocks, the five-cylinder engine's throttle is progressive just off idle, and the four-wheel-drive and traction-control systems work seamlessly together under most conditions. The structure of the H3 is impressively stiff, which is particularly evident as the truck slides off rocks to slam down hard on the skid plates with solid thunks and few shudders.

My point was that the original post about the Colorado Plus stated that the suspension has been fitted with Hummer H3 derived components, front and rear. It's the exact opposite, the H3 has been fitted with Colorado/Canyon derived suspension components, front and rear. The H2 utilizes suspension components from full size Silverado/Sierra P/Us, front and rear. I'm not knocking the H3 or H2 performance or capability but the only similarity between the H3/H2 and the original H1 is the name Hummer. The H3/H2 are 4WD GM P/Us underneath. The H1 is totally and radically different underneath, with full 4 wheel independent suspension, live axles front and rear and rigid high-mounted differentials front and rear. These are just a few of the differencesThe H3 costs $30K just like a Chevy 4WD P/U. The H1 costs $140K because it is still based on the original military HUM-V.

The H2 uses the Chassis from an older C/K chassis (1989~1999). The H3 is a rebodied Trailblazer. The Upcoming H4 will be a rebodied Vue/Equinox.The only truely original chassis used was the H1.

As you said (and me to, I think) the H2/H3 and now H4 are simply new bodies on existing GM platforms/frames and suspensions. The only thing that the original H1 shared was a GM 6.2L diesel engine.

so... the H5 will be a rebadged HHR right? I'm not a fan of very many trucks but that's not bad. The front end design is a lil out there...
