When we bought my Wife's new Altima last year, we traded in her old '86 accord. She missed it dearly... for about a day. The new car was so much nicer. When I bought my Vibe, I had an 86 nissan pickup I could have traded, but decided I might occasionally need a pickup so I kept it. The truck, though, got demoted from the garage to the street. And my Vibe was so much more fun to drive that it was three weeks before I even THOUGHT of driving the pickup again. But now I feel sorry for the truck, and have decided I should "fix it up", to make me want to drive it more. First came new wheels and tires. The original wheels were very rusty and the original tires looked too small for the truck. I replaced 195/75 r14s (14") wheels and tires with 215/60 r16s. Cost me roughly $600. Truck looks much better, but the new wheels stick out from the sides of the truck. So I've ordered fender flares to cover them. Another $275. The truck was seriously needing a tune-up, so $450 later it runs like new. The body has some serious rust spots that need to be taken care of, so that's my next step. Then I want to paint it to match my Vibe... Neptune Blue! So, did you trade or keep your old car when you bought your Vibe? Any regrets either way? Sad to see the old car go?Curious minds want to know.KSNeptune
I didnt trade my last car in. The whole reason on getting the Vibe is so I can mod the GA out all the way. I couldnt do that if it was going to be parked on the street every night. Fiberglass body kits dont last long when your neighbors dont know how to park. Plus, having a PS2 with video monitors in it would be an easy target. LoLBTW, wheels look nice on the truck.

Mine wasn't so much a trade, as it was, the lease was up on it. My cavalier, Bloopoo, did look kind of lonely when we joyfully drove off the lot in our Vibe. I missed it for about 2 minutes.

I definitely traded the old car. My '98 Saturn SL2 was mechanically unsound. Too bad, it was a good looking car (see photo below). I think it was abused before I purchased it. At 70,000 miles the head gasket went and the tranny was on it's way. Fortunately it held itself together long enough to get traded. No regrets really, it was getting to the point that I didn't trust it to make the 32 mile daily commute.
When we bought my Vibe--we didn't trade in the Happy Meal (Cavalier). Only because it got such good gas mileage and I thought I would use it with my previous job where I had to travel 150 miles to get one of my accounts. # weeks after I bought the Vibe, I lost that job due to downsizing....so we didn't drive the happy meal anymore. My husband had a 92 Dodge Dakota, so we had a spare Happy Meal. We just traded the happy meal 2 weeks ago for my husband's new GMC sonoma. Now we have an extra Dodge Dakota--that is for sale if anyone is interested...it's listed with a pic in the for sale/wanted forum.... As soon as I sell the truck--I get to get the Vibe windows tinted.....

I traded my 2000 V6 Mustang in for my Vibe GT. I miss it in some ways, I really miss the power seats, but I am happy overall with my trade. I would have never made it through this winter as easily as I have if I still had the Mustang. I like the roominess of the Vibe and it is much easier to get into and out of. One of the biggest factors in the trade for me was the performance aftermarket that is developing for the Vibe. Performance aftermarket for the Mustang seemed to be limited to the older cars and the newer V8's. I could find nothing for the V6. With the Vibe, I lost the low end grunt, but kept about the same acceleration figures. With the addition of some aftermarket mods, I can really have a lot of fun with the Vibe and make it unique, too.

I wouldn't have got anything for my trade. The dealer was only going to give me $2,000 to $3,000 for my car. I sold it outright for just over $5,100! The dealer I bought my car from told me to try and sell it myself because he knew they wouldn't give me a whole lot for it.

Let's revive an old link!I traded my 96 Dodge Intrepid (horrible car) for my Vibe GT. I purchased the Dodge 2 years earlier when my wife and I were having twins and I needed a back seat that would accomodate two infant seats and a regular child seat. I have not looked back since getting my Vibe, I love it. And three regular child seats fit fine across the back seat! No money down and zero percent financing made my decision to ditch the Dodge a no brainer!

I traded in my Sunfire GT for my Vibe GT. I don't miss it at all. quote:Will never trade a car ever. The dealer does not pay you what the vehicle is actually worth. They will have you over a barrel in no time, ill tell ya that.Hey Silver, I must have been lucky. I tried to sell my car with my rims, custom interior, and other stuff for $5000 and the best offer I got was $4000. I stripped it, sold the stuff seperatly, then traded the car to the dealer for $4000. So I actually got more by trading it in

We traded our first born child in on our Vibe, we kinda missed her at first, but since the Vibe cost much less to maintain we got used to the idea. We are planning to have a few more kids in the future, you know there are alot of nice new car models coming out in 2005. No, JUST KIDDING, we didn't trade anything in, the dealers really were not giving you anything worth while...
