tC Owners: Don't Slam That Door!

Post by ragingfish »

Quote, originally posted by The Car Connection »Toyota Recalls Scion tCThe Scion tC is on the recall list this week, as Toyota prepares to bring back 30,000 of the coupes for a problem with side airbags. Toyota tells the Associated Press that the side and curtain airbags could deploy if the doors are slammed with high force in affected vehicles, if the ignition is on or if the doors are slammed within 90 seconds of the ignition being keyed. The recall applies to about 20 percent of all tC coupes built in 2005 and 2006. Toyota has logged 17 complaints but no injuries related to the problem, which will be repaired for free.

Oops! Like Erkel would say, "Did I do that?" Hyundai has had a couple of those recalls over the years for the slamming door thing too. You've gotta watch the side air bag schtuff! I'm afraid to go anywhere near the 'B' pillars where the sensors are located if the ignition is on or has been on... Plenty of warnings in the service and owner's manuals about that.
