Garage Queens - how to take care of it.

Post by GoLowDrew »

06 Accord will have to sit in the garage for about 6+ months. (long story). We will not be using it during this time.Is it better to start the engine once a week, turn it off. (note: engine barely warm)OrStart it once a month, and actually let the engine get to operating temperature.Which is better?

my guess would be to start it up atleast once a week but let it get up to operating temp then turn it off. cause just starting it and turing it off after a couple seconds causes more were and tear on the motor.

Once a week, it will warm up to temp quickly in AZ. Turn heater on to circulate coolant thru the heater core and A/C on to cycle compressor to lubricate it. Assuming auto tranny, set parking brake, apply foot brake and shift thru all gear positions, pausing a few seconds in each.
