Just wondering here, how many Vibers have gotten tickets for speeding?I'd like to know about tickets that were IN THE VIBE primarily, but you can still put your two cents in if you like.Mine was a citation in Yavapai County, Arizona. I was 7 miles north of Wickenburg, AZ on US-93 at about 10 pm. I was clocked by VASCAR I think... a form of laser detection I'm told.98.3 in a 65mph zone. 33.3mph over the limit. 3rd degree misdemeanor that would have been a felony if I was stopped only 100 yards down the road where the limit changed to 55 (or if I was over 100mph).This citation will remain on my driving record for 1 year. Gotta love AZ.
Only ticket I've ever gotten was 83mph in a 65mph zone at like 5am where I thought it was actually 70. I was in the middle of nowhere Texas after driving like 15hrs straight since I left San Diego headed towards Dallas! Oops, this wasn't in the Vibe either, it was in my '02 S-10 Xtreme.

You didn't pay it did you? I'm about 3 weeks past payment due on my 20mph over ticket Can't afford to pay it yet (removed)...if I get arrested oh well.

I did get pulled over once in the '62 shortly after I got it b/c I was driving home at night and was messing with the bright button on the floor trying to figure out the lights and didn't realize the brights were on!

I am not going to vote on this because I really am ashamed of it.I have been in front of the driver control board. There have been periods of suspension and I have never had a DUI to get me there.Stupid me.nuff said.p.s. none in the Vibe

87 in a 70 a lil over a month after i got my vibe, march 31st(exactly 5 years after i was in a car accident, i think i need to jus take the bus on that day from now on) to be exact. the thing that sucked the most was the fact that there was a buncha kids flyin by me in lifted trucks as the cop was pullin up behind me. i thought he'd go after them since i was goin w/ the flow of my lane. the cop said i entered the freeway agressively, but when i got on the freeway, there were still ppl flyin up behind me in the "slow" lane. i still haven't paid it, so now i currently owe this hellhole i'm livin in $500+

None. Ever.BTW, VASCAR is simply a glorified stopwatch, has nothing to do with laser detection. They see you from above - you pass a certain point on the road, the start timing you, stop when you arrive at the next point, then calculate how long it took you to get from point a to point b, then factor in the distance to arrive at your speed. The beauty of this system is that smokey can clock you all he wants and the best radar detector in the world won't alert you, since, well, they ain't using anything that would transmit anything.

I've gotten more tickets than I can count...of course I've been driving for over 20 years which is longer than many of our members have been on earth. I've always kept my record clean (for insurance purposes) by going to traffic school. In California, you can keep the insurance companies from knowing about a ticket by going to traffic school - only allowed once every 18 months. My worse speeding ticket was my first - 63 in a 25 back when I was 17 - believe it or not I was not weaving in and out of traffic, I was going with the flow. To this day I think I was singled out because I was obviously young and driving a restored '66 Mustang.
One only, in 1975, 70 in a 55. It was on I-10 in the middle of the desert, where the limit was previously 70 before the stupid 55 limit was imposed by Congress. I was 17 years old, I had been out of town with scouts, got home the previous night at midnight only to find out my grandfather had died while I was gone and the funeral was the next morning some 250 miles away! My parents and siblings were already there, my father's Dodge Challenger was in the garage and the keys on the dresser. So I slept a bit (overslept) then took off. Got there, but still missed the funeral, but my parents couldn't get too mad about the ticket, kinda showed I was really trying to be there.

Twelve years without a ticket... until last Tuesday. Clocked me at 82 in a 65 on a basically deserted highway. He only wrote me up for 75 so I could get it dismissed under the "good driving record" defense. Would have been $85 otherwise, plus whatever the insurance company felt like charging. Cruise control has become my new best friend...

In WA I was yanked and told they tow anything over 100. the hwy patrol man says as he bumps mine down to 99.it was late and i was out of country so i figure i was lucky. Not lucky like this guy but still fortunate.still wasnt my worst though

No tickets in the Vibe. Can't remember how many speeding for sure 3 or 4 in nearly 20 years of driving. Not too bad - I'm a lot more chicken to speed than I used to be...I did get a warning in my Maxima last fall - 78 in a 55. I couldn't believe he gave me a warning. It was 11:30 on a Friday night, and I had been driving a few hours, so wanted to get home to bed. I had just gone through a small town, and the limit went back up to 55. There was a car in front of me going like 50 with a no-passing zone approaching. I punched the gas (I love my Max!), got around the car in no time, and promptly slowed down at set the cruise at 60. Shortly thereafter the rollers came on behind me - had no idea he was there (obviously!). I honestly didn't look at the speedometer, so about **** when he told me how fast I was going when I passed the car. I made absolutely no excuses, and did the polite 'yes sir' and 'no sir' responses. I think the reason he must have given me a warning is that I slowed down right after I got around the car. I'm sure that he thought he might be getting a drunk driver on a Friday night too. If I would have kept up the speed, I'm sure I would have gotten a ticket...
No tickets yet.....a warning here and there....but no tickets. (Most recent "warning" was for a small crack in my windshield....Sheesh!)After seeing the post about the guy who got caught doing 144, it reminded me of the local "hot story" of a kid who was caught doing 205 on his crotch rocket. It was the talk of the news here in the Twin Cities. Blue Crush and a few of the other Minnesotans might remember this.http://www.usatoday.com/news/o...x.htm
dragonsm, nice chatting with you last night, thanks for posting and welcome to genvibe good luck with the impending vibe purchase. Just try not to get any new material for this thread in it
No tickets in the vibe. One ticket in a Ford Taurus (70 in a 55) just passed a slow poke and around the bend State tropper was there to get me.Recived two verbal warnings one I wasnt speeding but rounded a corner to fast. the other i was 40 in a 30. (also in the Taurus.) All of these were long ago when I was younger and more invensiable.
The only one I got ... was a 78 in a 45. I was street racing some dude after college ... oops, lol And I had a stock 2.2L 2200 engine in my cav. I dont know how I got up to those speeds without the car falling apart, loldan

Worst ticket - (1979) Vette Stingray 90 over. Clocked at 160+ in a 70.I didn't know I was being chased until I slowed down. Impounded the car, was at holding cell until my dad picked me up. Spent over $1,000 in fines and impound. 180 day suspension of license. Had to take the bus to school las a senior. All I was doing was running up 1-45 in no traffic at night. It was over as soon as I started. Pretty stupid. No tickets since.

My first one was 79 in a 65 and I got a 60 dollar ticket from the colorado highway patrol. The second one is the one that pissed me off...I got a SPEEDING ticket for doing 55 in a 75...yes you read it right. It was snowing and the wyoming highway patrol said they had the judgement to give me a ticket for "going too fast for current weather conditions. I said I had never heard of that and that there were semi's going 70 still.Ugh, still makes me mad.

I got a ticket for 21 over in my Fiero. Judge dropped it to 5 over no points $250 fine. 5 over in the Firebird. That car saw 140 several times when I was young and stupid. I'm over that now. No tickets in the Vibe. I've learned that going fast in a flashy car isn't a good idea. I never exceed 10 over anymore even when other cars are flying by me.
