Weird ka-thunking in the vent system?

Please point me to the thread if it already exists (I did a quick search and didn't find anything), but here is what's happening:Starting yesterday, I noticed a weird sound somewhere in the air vent system. It sounds like something banging around. There's no pattern to it, and (it might be my imagination) but it almost sounds like it's moving around. When I turn the air up to full blast (on heat or AC) I hear fluctuations in the air flow. The knocking banging sound seems to move between the area sorta behind the radio and around the glove box.Any suggestions or thoughts on what this could be and how to stop it would be appreciated. I'm making a seven-hour car trip later this week and would like to resolve it.

welcome to the site! is your car under warranty still? there was a TSB for this problem, some nut, bolt or something usually gets loose in the vent.

Thanks for the welcome! My warranty expired - count 'em - 33 days ago. But if there's a TSB out there, it should still be covered, shouldn't it?

nope TSB's are not covered. It would only be covered if it was doing the noise before the warranty ended and was brought in for it to be checked and was still doing it after the warranty expired. I think there is a DIY on how to take apart the dash and get into the vents to get it.....
