Windshield Washer Problems

Post by jobie50 »

I have a 2004 Vibe and the Windshield Washers stopped working. I replaced the under dash fuse but it wasn't the problem. The rear washer still works. Any help will be appreciated....Thanks

stupid question. 1) is there fluid? because if the tank were completely empty, the rear washer could still be functioning off residual fluid in the line that runs to the rear...and 2) have you waxed recently? if so, you could have wax clogging your nozzles. Take a paper clip or push pin and push it into all 6 nozzles to ensure they are clear. If both of those aren't the case, you could have a dead fluid pump. There are different pumps for front and rear.

can you hear the pump working?clean those nozzles but as raginfish said maybe a bad motor, or it even the switch to the front and still working in the rear. this happened in my VW once. If you can hear the pump working then check the 'split' where the pump either pushes to the back or to the front nozzles. In my VW, the pump had 2 sides (one to the front and one to the back). the plastic piece before the hose to the front line had a crack in it. As a result, whenever it tried to pump to the front nozzles, all the fluid would just spray out the crack and all over that part of the engine bay.after many attempts at sealing the crack in the plastic, it didn't work. and in the end i bought a new pump (which came with the plastic pieces..which were not available separately) for $30 or so.
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!
