Difference in sound

Post by Darth Viber »

I had an 03 vibe with M&T in it and now have an 04 with the same.(see "Hello Fellow Vibers" in the Vibe Lounge) The sound in the 04 seems diminished in the rear speakers compared to the 03. I know the problem is with my amp. My question is did they use different OEM between 03 & 04 for the Vibe M&T package?

Don't think they used a different amplifier. Not until the sub was added in '05 (or '06, can't remember)

'04 rear speakers

Post by mathteacher'04vibe »

My sister had an '03 vibe with moon 'n' tunes and her system rocked. My '04 w/ moon 'n' tunes is impressive for stock, but the sound from the rears is awful. I fear there is not much juice going to them. I will be replacing the stock speakers with Sony's soon and will let you know if that helps. I would like to stay away from changing the deck-I kind of like the features on the stock deck.

Replacing the rear speakers will only improve the sound a little. From what I've been able to find out between the 03 & 04 vibe they did use different OEM in them. What I suggest would be to try replacing the amp first instead of the speakers. As an experiment, see if your sister will let you switch amps to see what happens. They should still have the same plugs and wiring configuration so it should work. Let me know if this is possible.
