Best header for the basic Vibe

Post by vibe Freak »

OK guys I have been reading like crazy. Can some one with a DC or JP performance header let me know how the power gains are on the basic Vibe. I am thinking about going with the header down pipe and the Magnaflow cat back exhaust. Will this be to free flowing for a auto Vibe. An in put on this would be great. Thanks for looking Dominic

well i dont have them but... if you have;intake, headers, exhaust... you can easily gain about 15 HP.From what ive read the headers dont do a lot unless combined with the above... it just frees up air. but i dont know for sure.

I'd try calling pacesetter. I can't remember the website off the top of my head, so just google "pacesetter header". Ohh, and when you call them ... say "header" don't say "headers" ... they will pretty much just laugh at you.dan

I put on the DC Sports header about 2 months ago with my Magnaflow exhaust and CAI. The difference was incredible. Huge gains in torque, HP and overall smoothness. Free revving with no drop off when shifting. The fit and finish are great also.

Thanks for the feed back. What is the best way to make a auto vibe faster of the line or more responsive. I know that a S/C will do the trick but I have a extended warranty.

id recommend a ported stock header, its cheaper and since its stock there wont be any emission problems or o2 sensor bung issues. I actually have a extra set waiting for money to get ported by Boosted2.0 on newcelica.org. The billet throttle rotor might help a little off the line, but since the yota engines have no low end torq you just need to do all you can to keep upping the torq.air intake, exhaust headers, exhaust system, aftermarket ecu (unichip for example or camcon) and a good tune.

I'd recommend getting the DC Sports Header from NeverEnough. It was a great deal and the best mod I've done so far with the greatest gains seen. I was never fond of the ported header idea..... it's a lot of messing around with the core charge and whatnot and I honestly believe a header that was engineered specifically for performance applications will be better in the long run than a ported stock header. Besides, it looks a lot cooler anyways. I don't know about other people but I like my mods to look different than the stock parts.

I think it was the DC sports that showed losses of HP in a certain range along the hp band. I like performance over looks, and from dyno's the ported stock seemed to be getting better gains than the aftermarket ones

I have read that the 2ZZ-GE manifold is very good and looks and preforms like a header. But is this also true for the 1ZZ-FE manifold. It looks like it really constricts the exhaust flow. So I would think that a header would be better. I do agree with you I am all about gains not looks. That is why I am going with lightest wheels and not stuffing 19" under the car.

Guys it looks like the part #THC-4405 03-05 Corolla has the bung for the 02 sensor. This is for the DC header.

DC header (THC-4405) compared to stock header. I don't see how a ported stock 1zz header could flow more than the DC.

The inside view is even more amazing. My stock pipe had a 2 piece lining with huge gaps in it, the DC is gorgeous. That's the part# of mine.
