It looks like a cargo cover is now an option for the 2007 model. Does that mean the base model does not come with any cargo cover? Is this the same flexible cargo cover that was standard on the prior years' models? Any ideas why it became an option in 2007?Thanks.
Yup. It shows as a $60.00 US option on the pontiac.com website for 2007.It's another example of 'decontenting' to maintain a low(er) base price.Prior examples of Vibe decontenting that come to mind: 1) the 'dual layer' armrest, 2) the additional power outlet in the center storage bin, and 3) the roof rack crossbarsThese items all were included in the base price on the '2003' built in 2002-03 and 2004 Vibes.OTOH, I can think of three changes 'added' beginning with the 2005 models:1) dual outlet rear window washer nozzle2) rear subwoofer included with premium audio package3) 'conservative' front fascia/grille
My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.
Also, in 2005/06 (certainly 06) in Canada, it was near impossible to find a car without painted bumpers/wheel arches. Plus in 2006, all the Canadian cars I came across have the side skirts, so there are a few upgrades.. but yeah, decontenting isn't always a bad thing. I bought my Vibe over a Caliber, the Vibe is awesome ..
Oh and also.. my dealer said "Those covers come back still in their plastic bags -(off lease vehicles)".. No one ever uses them. Sure enough, THEY KINDA SUCK... so mine, is still sitting in the bag, behind the seats "just in case" I may ever need it... or sell it on ebay.Don't get it, UNLESS they've improved it. I bought two folding storage bings. They are awesome.Cheers
I wouldn't pay $60 for the vinyl cover included in the '06 and earlier models, but I do find it useful in concealing items that are in the trunk.Rather than buy the vinyl one I'd look into making something a bit more rigid.
I took off the cover the day I got the car. Can't really put the dog back there with it in place LOL. I haven't even given it a second thought. With the tinted windows it's not easy to see in anyways, unless the sun is directly beating on the windows.

Salsa 2-tone Basecargo nets, liner and seatback storageThe best thing about having my previous car totaled in an accident is that i got a Vibe to replace it
Since they stopped including them the price on Ebay has more than doubled. Both of mine sold for under $30.00 each. Now they seem to go for a lot more. I wish I'd hung on to mine.
