The car is such a nice ride, and I have not had any problems with it yet. I have gotten 2 of my friends, and my girlfriend's mom to buy G6's after letting them drive it and answering their questions. I am torn between the new G6 GTP that will have the 3.6L V6 and the Grand Prix GXP for my next car, but luckily I still have a bit of time left on my lease.

the two cars are so different and for such completely different uses the logic is just not there...what did she did a new car for? I guess answering that question should have been done first...but if she's happy with the G6 then she was probably looking for that type of car to begin with...i don't go to the winter boots section to buy sandals for the beach.

i'm still confused as to why there's such a 'hate on' the yaris.i had to drive one for 2 weeks ..back in the day when it was called an echo and i really liked it. My friend bought a yaris last winter and he's having a great time with it and definitely doesn't have the headaches i get with my vibe.it suits his requirements (commuting to/from work and getting groceries/odd trip to niagara falls/etc.) and he's got $8-9k more in his pocket and maybe a bit more from all the fuel he's not having to buy.so it's small...(funny quote)"where i come from, a man isn't measured by the size of his car, but rather the size of his... " (end funny quote)

So you got your sister out of buying a Toyota-built 40mpg car that only costs about $12k and into a 17k GM-built car that gets 25mpg...okkkk, totally different classes there. I think the G6 is a great looking car, but you totally changed the car classes on her there. I think she would've been much better off with an xA for $14k that gets 35mpg, 100% built in Japan, and many more standered features than a Yaris, or by far a G6. But as long as she's happy it's all good!

Now, if you get the 4cyl you can reach up to 34.Yeah, or you could buy a car made in America, and support our ecomony and our workers. I have friends and friend's parents who work in the plant where they build the G6. I'm guessing you don't even know anyone who lives in Japanand read the reports man, having a japanese car isn't quite all it's cracked up to be these days buddy.

Don't get me wrong guys, I think the G6 is a great car, but from my point of view those extra 6mpg will cost you an extra $30 when gas is $5 per gallon....and that's not worth it to me. And no, I don't know anyone in Japan...what's your point, I also don't know anyone that works in a GM plant. I choose to spend my money on a better car, not it's point of orgin.

Ok, I'm still just waiting to see a GM cars pass 200k miles regularly... Yup, still waiting. Oh wait, was that a GM built pre-90s sedan that just passed me? No, it was a japaneese built one...oops. There is no susbstitute for the test of time which GM, and most other American brands such as Ford and Dodge, frequently fails. If you are a die hard GM fan, why did you buy a redbadged Toyota Matrix?(That wasn't ment to attack anyone, just asking a simple qestion, I hope no one takes offence by it.)

(this way, you still have your extra 6mpg you mentioned)10*40=400 (yaris)10*34=340 (G6)400-340=60 (mileage difference per tank)60m/34mpg = 1.7 gallons (extra gas used)1.7gal * 5$ = $8.5 (which is far from 30).

Ok honestly what american made car is 100% american parts? Buying a car should be on what you like, its reliability, mileage etc. etc. brand makes no difference to me as long as it suits my needs. I love the G6 coupe, but the 4 door looks funny to me (my opnion). Good choice on the car though. My mom's malibu has a 3500 and that thing can MOVE plus on the highway she got 36mpg (all hwy driving). good choice

There's nothing wrong with, or strange about shopping for vehicles of entirely different extremes. I tend to shop more with my wallet than I do a particular segment. If I find something nice in a sedan for x amount, I'll consider that; if there's something appealing to me for roughly the same money in some other form such as a wagon, something smaller or larger, whatever - I'll consider that. Completely different cars still can be competitive with me. I'm voting for the G6 in this scenario. IMHO: The Yaris sounds good in theory if you only look at the base MSRP, ($13130 for the sedan) but by the time you start adding stuff, good grief! Not even thinking about the power stuff, other things we take for granted these days like split folding rear seats, a tach, or even a rear defroster aren't there in the Yaris for that "bargain" price from what I can tell. The price jumps to ~$15,300 adding the power package with the alloys. Just for giggles, I tried to build one roughly equivalent to my Accent ($15,400 MSRP, I paid $14,000 out the door after incentives) and the Yaris was around $16,400. The 'S' I priced topped $17,000, no telling how much higher one can make the price inflate by adding all their accessories. And i doubt there will be incentives on the Toyota to offset the sticker price... I'm sure the Yaris is a great car and all, it gets good mileage, but between these two, there's no way I would buy it - by the time I added the stuff I want on a car, might as well look at something else. The premium price for the name, blah! The $16990 base G6 I see listed on Pontiac's site sounds like a better deal. Dollar for dollar, you're getting more car for your money. You're stepping up to something much larger that comes with a reasonable amount of equipment standard. Plus, there's a better chance of getting some sort of incentives with the Pontiac. And really, to go from a subcompact to a midsize with only a 5 MPG penalty on the highway isn't that terrible! (To be fair, comparing automatics to automatics, the G6 4-cyl only available in an auto, so I compared the Yaris' auto which has a 39 highway figure, not the 40 MPG that the manual gets.)

yeah, i agree with you. i've talked to my sister about cars. she's not into the know, and she's been pretty surprized on the diffrences of cars. she's had a thing for the rav 4 for awhile, and i showed her alternative domestic models, she was intrigged.
