Just the other day I decided to take off all my cladding (rhino skin). I am taking it to a local place in town to get it all painted satellite. I will finally have what I've always wanted, a monotone VIBE. Once I get it all finished I will be sure to post some pics of before, during, and after photos. This car inspired me.
they do look good in all one color... and some do look good in two colors.GL and we want lots of pics.

Lucky! I've been trying to do this for the last 3 years. Something ALWAYS happens that prevents me from dong it. Got laid-off and didn't have the money. Got a great deal on the s/c so spent the money on it. This year the tranny used up all my Vibe funds.I envy you dude! It's gonna look sweet!

god I have wanted to do the same thing for soooo long! I hate my cladding. i also envy u lolHow much do u think it will cost to have the cladding area re-painted? or r u completely re-painting the whole vibe?
Man, if you're gonna go through all that trouble, I'm thinking "paint it a different color!" LOL! But I always wanted to see a true 2-tone Vibe with painted lower cladding, similar to what the Voltz had, that's pretty spiffy. But monotone can be pretty alright too.Good luck with it! Keep us posted on how it turns out.

We could probably meet up. You're the one moving to Dallas, right? I'm about an hour north of Tulsa and about two hours north of OKC. Just give me a date and I'll check my schedule, COOL? ~Kevin

according to the body shop they cannot paint the rhino skin on the two-tone vibe because the paint wont last. they say the plastic wont hold the primer. Anybody had any luck?
but the monotone vibes (like mine) have the bumpy feel to them like the two tones... so i dont know what they did.

DrifZ gunmetal w/ luster lip (chrome). And about the primer adhearing to plastic: There is a product out there called "Plastique". You spray this on first, then primer/bondo, prime again, and then last: paint color, clear. They can get it super smooth, just takes work.~Kevin
OK I work for a body shop supply store and as for the guy that told that b/s (wrong). You can paint plastic as long as you put an adhision promoter on. Klean Strip has a product called Bull Dog adhision promoter and there is also another product called SEM that also has an adhision promoter. Both of them work really good as long as you fallow instruction's and prep them real good, so you can get your plastic done and get it painted any color you like with no problem's. If anybody has any question's regarding automotive painting please dont hesitate to ask.. nuvibe
