So my poor girlfriend had been driving this terrifying 1992 ford escort wagon around since i met her. The thing was a heap. The exhaust system got flattened somehow and that kept the car from accelerating properly...if at all. The thing sucked gas like there was no tomorrow. It had a tendency to stall while moving...and sometimes, not even bother starting. And it was falling apart everywhere. Long story short, she finally admitted it was time to dump the thing. I rejoiced. She needed a car...but on a tight budget. We considered the yaris, fit, vibe, cobalt, accent, and aveo. We eliminated the fit because of poor reviews. Yaris because of my hatred of toyota and what she's heard from others who weren't fans of toyota either. Vibe was out because even the simplest model was out of her budget. Aveo eliminated because she just didn't love the look. So, we looked at cobalts. Test drove one. It drives quite nicely! Very quiet. Accelerated smoothly, and just felt very solidly assembled. She really liked it...and decided to get one. Got the plain-jane model...manual windows, no ABS...no options actually EXCEPT an auto. That was the only option she got. She's a simpleton. In any case, got it out the door for about 12-ish...payments are about 230 a month for 6 years (she plans to eventually refinance for a lower rate and shorter term) including a 100,000 mile / 72 month extended warranty. Anyway, she's VERY happy to FINALLY be driving a car that's reliable, and dare i say it, fun. I should also mention it's her first new car...every other one she's ever had has been a hand me down or a used piece of junk.I would've told her to hold out for the G5, since she said she likes Pontiacs, but I knew without having any info that it would be priced too high for her. Oh well, she pretty much has a G5 already! HA!Oh, and it is complete coincidence the color is the same as my G6. I plan to get pics of the two cars together...just for kicks. But for now...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
Cool, she gets and a congrats from me. Even though she didn't buy the Accent. I think she made a good choice, should be a solid car she can have for years to come.My buddy dumped his Vibe with the chronic check engine light and the built-in rear seat swimming pool for a Cobalt about a year ago, he has close to 36K on it so far. Only thing that has screwed up so far is the ignition switch and he had some sunroof problems here recently. Other than that, with the auto he is getting 31 MPG average, it has been a far better car for him than the Vibe ever was. I wish her good luck with the new ride. Good luck to you too, man! Can't wait to see the pics.

tell her to keep you out of it, or your bad mojo will cause something to happen and the new Cobalt will be back at the dealer for bodywork within a month.
