GM releases pricing on turbo solstice.

Post by tangerine »

Pontiac Announces Solstice "Turbo" GXP Pricing Press Release:New Turbocharged Roadster to Sell for Under $26K Detroit - At the height of the summer solstice, Pontiac today announced that the turbocharged 2007 Solstice GXP will carry a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $25,995, including a $600 destination charge. The 260-horsepower roadster arrives in Pontiac dealerships this fall.Powered by GM's new direct injection, turbocharged 2.0-liter Ecotec engine, the Solstice GXP adds a 47 percent boost of power to augment the road-gripping performance and seductive styling already available in the base model roadster."The passion customers have for the Solstice continues to amaze us and we have been sold out of the 2006 models for the past couple of months," said Mark-Hans Richer, Pontiac marketing director. "There's already a waiting list for the 2007 models, so we believe the GXP will only extend the Solstice's position as the top-selling roadster in the U.S., proving that a domestic car can retake a segment previously dominated by imports."Model year to date through May, Pontiac has sold 15,145 Solstices, outselling the closest competitor in the segment by more than 2,600 units. Solstice remains one of the industry's hottest selling cars, contributing to a 20 percent increase in Pontiac showroom traffic since the beginning of the year and double digit percent sales gains in key coastal markets.Pontiac is a division of General Motors Corporation (NYSE: GM) and markets the G6 sedan, coupe and retractable hardtop convertible, GTO, Solstice roadster, Torrent SUV, Grand Prix, and Vibe. Later in 2006, Pontiac will introduce the turbocharged Solstice GXP roadster and G5 sports coupe. Pontiac sold more than 437,000 vehicles in 2005, ranking third among GM divisions in total sales.

thats a bad lil mofo. between that and the new hardtop convertable miata coming out I see it is gonna be a good year for upcoming cars.here is the new miata:Here is the Autoweek release:Mazda's MX-5 gets folding hardtop option for '07 with only 75 more pounds. We like the oh-so-easy-folding ragtop on the third-generation Mazda MX-5 so much that we’re left scratching our heads that the Ford-owned Japanese automaker would go to the trouble of engineering an optional folding-hardtop convertible for the 2007 model.Yes, folding hardtops offer extra security from theft and better protection from the weather, and the trick motorized lids are all the rage right now in two- and four-seat cars. But is the added weight of a folding top and its motors and cables what you want in a lightweight roadster? How much complexity and cost does the roof add to Mazda’s value roadster? Mazda will answer those questions soon, once the MX-5 Power Retractable Hard Top makes its global debut July 18 at the 2006 British International Motor Show in London. The car goes on sale in August or September in the U.S.Mazda notes that a removable hardtop has been an option on the MX-5 since its launch in 1990, with a cloth convertible top standard. The 2006 MX-5 was launched late last year amid an increasingly competitive segment that now includes affordable roadster entries from General Motors (Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky). Historically, retractable hardtops have been offered on more expensive models, however several affordable four-seat cars with folding hardtops have recently arrived on the market.OFFICIAL RELEASE FROM MAZDAMAZDA TO EXHIBIT NEW MAZDA MX-5 MIATA WITH POWER RETRACTABLE HARD TOP AT THE BRITISH INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOWIRVINE, Calif. — Mazda Motor Corporation will make the global debut of the Mazda MX-5 Miata Power Retractable Hard Top at the 2006 British International Motor Show in London, England. Since its launch in 1990, and with subsequent generations launched in 1999 and 2006, MX-5 Miata has always been available with an optional removable hardtop, but this is the first time the car will be available with a power-operated retractable hard top.The British International Motor Show will be held in London from Tuesday, July 18, through Sunday, July 30, 2006.Featuring a new, unique power retractable hard top roof, this is an all-new addition to the third-generation Mazda MX-5 which launched in late 2005 as a 2006 model. This new Mazda MX-5 provides a unified sense of driving exhilaration, ready to spread the fun of lightweight sports cars in diverse and distinct new ways, regardless of the weather.“Jinba Ittai”—or ’rider and horse as one’ is the essence of Mazda MX-5, the expression reflecting the emotional connection between a horse and rider. Along with the global debut of the MX-5 Power Retractable Hard Top, the Mazda Sassou and Kabura concept vehicles will also be shown.Mazda will hold a press conference on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at 11:45 a.m. (British Summer Time).Mazda MX-5 with a power retractable hard top roof will be known by different names around the world:North America: Mazda MX-5 Power Retractable Hard TopEurope: Mazda MX-5 Roadster CoupeJapan: Mazda Roadster Power Retractable Hard Top

Ok your just slower at posting them up lol. Probably the same e-mails sent to the other guy who posted them up on nasioc.I'd need to have a removeable top in order to autocross in a car like that. I doubt I'd fit with a helmet on.

nope. you'll have your STI, then my turn. however, under $26K to start for a turbo'd 2 seater roadster?? sure beats the hell out of $45K!

I believe that 3 cars would be enough for the wife and I. Her LGT, my STi when I get one, and then a roadster or something for autocross and summer fun. I could keep the Vibe but room for 4 cars when we don't even have a house yet... yeah.

you guys are forgetting that the dealers are already printing up their added mark up stickers for them.i wouldnt even consider a trubo solstice for that reason alone... its not worth my time anymore to hunt around a find a dealer that will just sell me a car at sticker.

I'v yet to see a sky but there is an amazing blacked out Solstice that goes around town when I'm going to doctors, everytime someones with me they are like "who, whats that?!" GM really did a good job on these two cars...but is it true that the drivers side has power window and passeenger side is crank? I'v heard this from people and I can't see why that would be true.
