2006 Vibe Review-Owned 1 month

Post by nygiantzz1 »

This forum was a tremendous help to me in making my decision to purchase the Vibe. i thought an honest review might be helpful to potential buyers. here are my thoughts:Expectations: I was moving from an SUV with a big engine to a small, economy car due to outrageous gas prices. I set the bar low and convinced myself to live with a little 4 banger and sacrifce performance for savings. I wasn't expecting much more than good gas mileage and hoping for reasonable reliability. I was in for one hell of a surprise. Impressions: I Love everything about this car, it has greatly exceeded all expectations. Initially, acceleration and shifting was a little harsh, but it has improved greatly and I expect it to get even better. The computer is learning my driving style and adjusting appropriately. Handling is outstanding on dry road and the ride is very smooth. I have not pushed it in the rain (don't trust the Goodyear RSA's),but so far, it has handled fine in the rain driving normally. The seats are very comfortable and I actually think I like the manual adjustments better than power seats. I can adjust the seat much faster after my wife has driven it. The interior styling is really nice, an average amount of plastic, but it blends well. The instrument cluster is beautiful. It doesn't matter if the sun is in your face or at your back, the guages are easy to read. The chrome rings do reflect, but not enough to be distracting. The high belt line turned out to be a bonus, I can leave the back windows down and not worry about my dogs propping up on the armrest to see out. They are content to sit in the seats and look out the window, it's the perfect height for them. The stereo(Monsoon) is impressive for a factory upgrade. As far as the exterior, I like it more every day, I don't care if it is a wagon, it is beautiful. The gas mileage has improved a little with almost every tank. Overall average 31mpg after 4 tanks. Problems: None! No squeaks, rattles, nothing. Everything is working perfectly. I think that is the most impressive part, after one month, not one single issue. Pontiac and Toyota got this one right!! Favorite Features: Instrument cluster, AC power outlet, cargo room (you really can fit an 8' board in this car and close the hatch, awesome!)Suggested Improvements: A better rear cup holder, it looks and feels a little flimsy and I am certain my kids will break it before Summer is over. If you want something economical, stylish and fun to drive, The Vibe is your car. Again, I wasn't expecting much, but I am highly impressed so far.

I guess it did come off a little promotive didn't it. What can I say, I did not expect the car to impress me this much. For the record, I have no affiliation with Pontiac or GM. I work for New York State. (communications)

Awesome review. Now just wait till he has something go wrong and has to deal with the dealership.. Sorry bad experience.... ended in calling GM headquarters to get a fuel pump covered with 37,000 milesBut Love the Vibe!!

Nice review. My sense is that people who own the Vibe tend to love it. I suspect many traded a larger vehicle.Which other vehicles did you consider? How did you choose the Vibe?
