cd skipping

Post by meistees »

I've seen a couple posts on here about the stock HU skipping but I've had my new Panasonic head unit for about 3 months and it would skip every so often hitting potholes or going over train tracks.. over the weekend I had to unbolt it to plug the RCA cables in for my replacement moon & tunes amp.. I didn't pull the deck all the way out of the dash or anything and secured it back the same it was before..now! the slightest vibration in the road or smallest blemish on a cd makes it skip to hell and back and today is way worse than yesterday..now it'll skip in the middle of song #1 and end up in song #3.. is the laser defective?

Possibly. When I was working at CC I saw a lot of Panasonics come back with disc read problems. If you got an extended warranty from whatever store you bought it from, they should take a look.Conversely you can try seeing if you can find a lens cleaner that will work in the slot-load type player, it could just be dirt.
