Spoiler Idea

Post by DavidPIL »

Hey everyone...A little help is needed. I have been looking endlessly for a spoiler that has the same general look as the Vibe GTR Spoiler. I've considered a simple lip spoiler but I just don't think it would look right with the way the hatch top is shaped.Today while searching once again, I found, what I think it a viable alternative to my spoiler dilema. Unfortunately, it's specifically for a Toyota Yaris and apparently only sold in Europe. here is a link to a picture... http://im.edirectory.co.uk/pro...s.jpg Obviously, it won't be an exact fit and I'm sure I'd have to shape it abit to look right... that it, if it will fit at all. Has anyone seen a spoiler like this state-side? That spoiler is made by a company called PI. Went to their site and it's very limited. No information on distributors and their contact page wouldn't load. I think that type of spoiler would look great with my roof rail caps. US sites don't even list the Yaris yet for aftermarket parts.. and the 20 or so I've browsed through don't seem to have this type. If anyone can help me with US site with something similar, that would be great! Thanks!Dave

That is close to a Focus ZX3 spoiler. It may take modification but you would have something to work with. I believe JC Whitney has one. 1996 - 2000 HondaCivic Doors: 3-dr. J-style Carbon Fiber Rear Wing ZX507390XF Each $399.99 Expected to ship from factory by 06/09

I think small/medium lip spoilers are the best thing to put on hatchbacks

I forgot who, but a company makes one for the Matrix. I think that would be the closest fit to start with. Also has the third brake light built into it.

The one for the matrix doesn't fit I asked a while back, its because of the dang roof rack, so the door for the matrix actually opens slightly differently near the top. I looked into trying to do this a while back and concluded you either need to get the roof rack caps for this to try a retro fit or you need to get it custom done

this is a very pricey spoiler but would look ok i believe. maybe a little race like styling. or this from the focus. might need some work to fit though

Hey...thanks for all the replies... Really, I think I'm just too picky. I see what I want, which usually doesn't fit or isn't specifically for or isn't available anymore then I don't even bother with alternatives.I think that Focus one is molded a bit more to the hatch lip than the Yaris one I was trying to get. And it looks more like a duck bill. Anything like that J's Racing one just isn't my style at all. I sent an email to the place in the UK, but only before I found out they don't ship to anywhere but the UK,so I'm sure the won't respond. Also sent an email to a few online Spoiler places, but no responses yet. Thanks though...Dave

Once again, thanks for the input about the Spoilers... I saw several Focus ZX3/5 spoilers and some look pretty cool though I'd have to section the middle out to make the length fit. There is no company in the UK that will give me specs on that PI spoiler for the Yaris so I kept looking... I noticed the Cobalt soilers looked small enough to fit and seemed to have a similar shape as the hatch of the Vibe. THe mounting posts are on top so the shape of the lip won't matter, just the flatness of the posts. ALso, found a place with specs for this spoiler and the posts are placed far enough away from the hinges of the hatch window. Here is a link to the 4 door versionhttp://www.spoilerdepot.com/Ca...4.jpg and 2 door versionhttp://www.spoilerdepot.com/Ca...2.jpgIf anyone has a Cobalt and can see how well they look on the Vibe, let me know... Otherwise, any input on the looks of this would be appreciated... Thanks!Dave

i would love a lip spoiler or duckbill for the hatch but cant find one for the life of me. they look so much hotter than gaudy wings.. i was thinking of trying to get a CF duckbill from a civic and trying to get it to work..

I guess I should chime in on this thread again...I went with the Focus Spoiler then sectioned out the middle for it to fit between the roof rack caps. After that, I had to bondo the feet of the spoiler for it to fit the contour of the Vibe's hatch. Took a bit of work but it came out decent. There is a pic or 2 of it in the Gallery thread... http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=30226Dave
