I noticed that some have removed the top rails, is it recommended?

its there for people who use them... they are a part of the car so i guess if you really want to lose them then you could buy the roof caps for about $199 i think. or you can get a carbon fiber cover.I hear they are a pain to take off. but not 100%Oh... by the way welcome. I used to live in Phoenix from 2002-2005.Hope you enjoy the info. and the pics

Well, do it when its warm so the plastic is not brittle and stiff (found out the hard way).I wish scherry's walk through was availible when I did mine cause I broke all the clips on one side lol.Make sure when you are readyt o take the rails themselves off you pull up and backwards so you slide them off the clips instead of breaking them. Not TOO must of a hassle overall though

I purchased the crossbars from another genvibe member last year. I've used them twice. I think they give the car a unique look. I've see a lot of Matrix(es?) around with out any rails, and I think they look plain. I have also seen a few vibes here that look nice w/o them. Depends on the color of the vibe I guess.

I'd have to say that I'm partial to the RK Sport cf covers.
