A wrap up for the headers...

Post by Legros »

Hello, did some search on the site about a change of headers... I have a 03 GT vibe.. 04/03 for the production month so it would seems i'm in the first batch with a air injection? Two question.1st: I have a cosmo air intake ( ) and soon a magnaflow cat back . Read a lot of things about the DC headers some seems to say that gains are impressive (about 10hp) other seems to say that with the GT the headers are already pretty good so the gain are not that impressive. So... Is it a good upgrade or i keep my money for later upgrade.2nd: Lets say we arrive to the conclusion it's a good upgrade... I guess that now DC sport or other people tought of a way to make it fit for 03/03 later models? Thanks.

i dont think the price of a DC header and the performance gained on the GT model are worth it, if i can remember right, the GT was pretty well freeflowing. YOu can however have someone port your original headers for like 150. Iam having a set of stock headers ported for my base vibe this summer for about 150 total.

Yah, the GT exhaust manifold is already supposed to be flowing pretty well. You could get it ported but I think you'd be better off getting high-flow cats with that cat-back exhaust or a JP Mid-Pipe and a Magnaflow axle-back or somethin.

Take a few hours and take out your stock header and look at it. If it's one nice and smooth piece (like the aftermarket ones) and not 2 molds welded together (like the POS stock base vibe's), I would keep it and like Northvibe said and have it ported for half as much.

Not sure i will take out the headers to check for now but with what you said.. it confort me in my decision... Go for a magnaflow cat back exhaust and then... when i get bored (with a vibe it could take long eheheh) i will check for the header and get it ported if needed.Thanks.

Hey Lancer,I just ordered my DC Sports header. You wanna come to Green Bay and help me install it, right?
