Roof Leak?

Post by Katscan »

Not sure how this happened but today while i was out shopping it rained pretty heavily, though this isnt the first time my Vibe has been out under heavy rain. But this time, when I opened the rear hatch I noticed that the rear matt was all wet and there was watter all over the subwolfer. I couldnt figure out where the water came from and I looked at every possiable way it could have entered my car. I gave up after 10 minutes of looking and drove home. I made sure to dry off the spot to see if it would leak again and sure enough. There was water leaking out of the top of the rear most window behind the passenger window. The one that looks into the back. So yea, have to wait till Monday to take it in and hope they find the leak and fix it....and I hope my subwolfer wasnt damaged by the water.

sounds like your moonroof drain hose might be clogged or kinked...

the sun roof drains on all for corners the front run down the A pillars and the rear run down the sides behind the rear seat. in this thread you can see the drain hose behind the rear side panel (thanks binary)http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=21633

Sounds like it could be a similar issue that I had. One day after washing my Vibe I was cleaning out the interior and opened up that small cubby/storage bin on the rear trim panel (near the liftgate), and noticed some water puddled inside. It tokk the dealer 2 days to finally figure out where the water was coming from. It was leaking around one of the roof rack mounting locations. They had to completely remove one side of the roof rack and re-seal the mounting holes with silicon.

I've got that same leak! It took your post to remind me of it. I didn't realize it until I opened up one of the compartments back there and stuff was wet. Today, there is plenty of evidence that water has been dripping into the compartment and drying on the plastic.
