SUVs and other such inflammatory idiocy

Post by daverules »

Okay, it seems and any average person can assume that, "yes, SUVs are worse for the environment than say, a Honda Insight." And, "yes, so many American SUVs are probably bad for our national agenda and security as they consume so much foriegn oil."But doesn't this article take things a little too far? http://www.sfgate.com/columnists/morford/? Of course, this is written by some hippy from San Francisco, so I wouldn't take it too seriously. I only bring it up because I think the Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Matrix, and Nissan Murano, and all of the other crossover type vehicles make excellent "SUV alternatives"What do you guys think?

The gas mileage alone is enough to make me think that the crossover vehicles are perfect. You get plenty of room, without draining your bank account at the gas pump....

Yeah brother...I'm in the service, so I dont listen to tree hugging hippies. I'm all for the environment. I recycle and drive a ULEV (my vibe) fer cripes. But that article is a bit much. This guy obviously loves Hilary and Al Gore, so don't get me started. Hillary went up to some Marine officers while at the white house, and told them their "Dress Uniforms" were improper, and they needed to come in in suits. The Marines have the sharpest clothes in all the services, and she just insulted them to their faces.

I can't belive that she insulted the Marine dress uniform. To me it looks better that any suit or tuxedo. What right does she have to tell them they were dressed improperly? Regardless of what they were wearing, they were there to protect her.

Don't forget that the bi*** threw countless fits, broke lamps, and fired help in the White House. In all, still not as bad as what her husband did in there. Well, what can you really expect from a bunch of Marxists? And good ol' Al-I-invented-everything-in-the-world-Gore worships pyramids and crystals. (removed)? And people actually voted for this guy to be their president? They must have been brain-dead.BTW--I sincerely thank you for your service to me and my country, flipside. People like you are what keep the U.S. number one in the world. Best regards to you and yours. SEMPER FI!!!

Read this:http://poseur.4x4.org/It is a site devoted to educate people who want an SUV. The vast Majority of SUV owners do not need them, and are probably better suited with a mini-van or a car based crossover vehicle like the VIBE.

Good site. You should read his hate mail. I wonder what he would think of the AWD Vibe/Matrix? I would have thought he would have better things to say about the cute utes.

He would probably like the Vibe/Matrix. Cause its a good compromise of carlike handling and SUV cargo space. In general the Vibe/Matrix designers kept the center of gravity low (like a car) - and gave it a sports car engine and sports suspension.Cute-utes are more like SUV's than cars. That means, they are generally top heavy and poor handling. It doesn't matter how "car like" they advertise them to be, you can't have high ground clearance, tall ride without a compromise of handling. (there are some very expensive exceptions of course - BMW X5 is one of them)His hate mail is classic!
