Should I?

Post by GoodVibeRations »

Hey guys im new here and Im likeing the site already. I would like to know if a 2003 Vibe is a good car to bye. I would like to know any gremlins they came with and and early warning signs to future problems. Its a 5spd and ive been reading that people have been having problems with them. Any feed back would be awsome!

Welcome to GenVibe! As far as the Vibe being a good car, I think it is great. Of course, I bought it new. I would read all the info you can in the Problems & Warranty Issues forum on here (as well as other areas of the site) and with that knowledge write down the items you would want to see get checked out. Then take the vehicle you were looking at getting to a third party mechanic that you trust and have him look it over taking into account your list if items to check out as well. Don't forget to do a CarFax report on it to make sure the title is clear and it wasn't involved in any accidents or anything else. (Hurricane Katrina Floods)Good luck with your search and enjoy your stay.

i bought mine used (2004), with every car I bring mine to my mechanic before I buy it and have him check it out before. Vibes are recommanded cars if you dont get a lemon.

Welcome to GenVibe!northvibe's advice is good, no matter what kind of car you buy. If you don't have a mechanic you trust, there are lots of independent automobile inspection companies that will do a thorough inspection for under $150. In fact, some credit unions require a favorable inspection before they'll loan on a used car. That said, I don't know of any specific problems with the 5-speed on the 2003 models. We have had some lemons pop up (see just about any post from ColonelPanic !), but overall their reliablility is, IMO, better than most GM products (thanks to Toyota drivetrain).Keep us posted on your search, and if you do get one, post pics!
