Just curious to see how people have been mounting their satellite radios as of late. I'm contemplating getting one, but I dont want visable wires or the lil "pod" just velcroed to the dash. So, show me how creative you all have been...Another question... I currently have an indash satellite stereo (but the cd seems not to be working). Will the antenna I have for that radio work w/ one of the portable pods? Thanks, hjwii
if you have factory XM antenna on your Vibe, there is NO compatable Aftermarket XM system that will connect to the stock XM antenna! At least thats is what both Best Buy and Circuit City have told meSo if you are to replace your system with aftermarket you will need to have a different antenna for SAT radio.
I did NOT want that XM antenne on my roof for fear of scratching it and stuff so I just wired it through my dash and popped it up in the left corner inside the car. Hardly visible at all and gets good reception. The receiver I had in teh center counsel temporarily becuase I coudln't find a place to mount it! I have a Roady. Finally I decided in the glove box is perfect. Unfortunately it has to be open for the remote to workj but this way I can hide it at work, no wires are visible whatsovever, and it hardly takes up any space. Here is the antenna:
I've got a few pics of mine here. I generally only have two wires visible: The antenna cable runs from between the seat and the console up to the front of the console, and the power cable is plugged into the console power outlet, exits through the top on the passenger's side, runs down between the passenger seat and the console and finally to the dock. None of the wiring is visible from the driver's seat. I've been using the FM transmitter integrated into the tuner, it does fine that way and fewer wires. I do have an aftermarket radio now with an aux input on the front - but for the most part I'm still using the transmitter.

i use the starmate Sirius Radio.......... http://www.sirius.com/servlet/...94040it doesnt fit like 100% maybe 95%, its a little angled at me, which is fine for me, b/c i can read it better. im trying to find like bed foam and mold it around it just to make it look better.
Have: 2006 Pontiac Torrent. Perferred Package. Sun & Sounds Package. Blue Streak Color. Sirius Radio.
I used a piece of metal, bent to angle the unit towards the driver. It attaches with two screws which are hidden behind the chrome trim piece. The wires just snake down the dash, right next to the front console.
hey bh357 no fair i paid 30 bucks for my piece of metal. dam you pro-fit!!!!j/k

Here's a pic of my Sirius unit. Since I took the picture, I added the outlet in the center console that GM left off the '05's, so the dash outlet is now powering my radar detector.http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...9.JPG
Mods: 04 center armrest, 04 Matrix AM/FM/CD/Cassette, Electrochromatic rear view mirror w/compass, GM hood protector, Ventvisors on doors and moonroof, one-touch close moonroof. added 12v outlet in console, Goodyear TripleTred tires, Sirius satellite radio.
