JSP America Carbon Fiber M-style hood

Post by damronjr »

Here they are, pics of my hood finally installed. About the latch, on mine I just had the bend the hook toward the engine a little and it shut fine. The finish isn't great and the haziness looks to be under the clear-coat which kind of sucks. Almost no blemishes in the actual carbon weave. On to the pics!Enjoy!!

The more I look at it, the more I like that hood on your silver Vibe. It looks awesome in that 6th pic. That should be in your new sig along with "FrankenVibe" written on there. Ha, Ha.

Mine looks a little hazy in one or two spots near the inlet of the scoop but once it warms out I bet it will come right off with some wax and all that jazz...I can't wait to detail my baby...I HATE winter...Your car looks soooo cute in the warmth and the sun with her new accessory. I think It will have to get past 45 degrees for me to fully enjoy this hood but I ges I'll have to wait

Wanted to post this here as well:I guess I got the short end of the stick again! Mine is all hazy and looks dusty, but the dust appears to be under the clearcoat and doesn't wipe off. I don't see that in your pics, but they are kind of far and in indoor light. I need to wash and wax it and see if it clears up. You could probably see what I was talking about in the pics I posted.Don't worry, I'm not too happy right now either. Maybe we should have listened to Havock! Here are the pics of my hood now, and this is not external, but rather looks to be under the clearcoat! I called and emailed Linda already.

Picked up my hood though I probably won't put it on until June It does appear you got the short end of the stick again Jason, from what I could tell my clear coat looked almost perfectly clear (though I could be mistaken because I was looking at it in my dark room).

Oh, I got a little shafted too. The front egde of the hood is only partially rolled. I have a big 3" flat spot and a couple 1" spots. You don't see it when the hood is down, but for showing with it up you can see it plain as day. Oh and the sides have larger gaps then the stock hood does.I also had a hard time getting the hood to close right. I have to slam it for it to latch. And I had to take the dremel tool to the hood stand hole so it would would fit.For a brand name that is all over mags, show cars, toys, and video games, this is really (removed) poor craftmanship! Here's a shot from the inside.

Well, someone isn't fessing up! I just got off the phone with Linda and she said someone another person went back on theirs with I believe the same problem. She said she sent the pics to the manufacturers HQ to try to figure out what the deal is. She told me to just leave it on for now and she will get back to me as soon as she gets word back from them. I just hope the others Like Pauls and Lancers don't start going bad, b/c apparently it gets worse with time. mine right now is very white all over the hood now. It looks like complete @$$!

hmmm...not good. Mines been through about 200+ miles within the last two days and it's also been through snow and rain and wind during that time so I think that covers almost all bad things here in Michigan. So has she heard anything from the headquarters or no?

Lol I guess its a good thing my hood is sitting in my poorly lit room still semi wrapped in the foam stuff until summer, I should have them pay for shipping it back so they can put the UV crap on before the hood starts to look like **** if possible. Btw I don't think we have "rolled" edges, they were cut and then just rounded I think
