Quote »But in fact, Brooks said Monday, the car was traveling 162 mph when it crashed, far faster than the 120 mph originally believed. The Ferrari, with just a few inches of undercarriage clearance, hit a bump at a crest in the road, sending the vehicle airborne and into the power pole, Brooks said.Holy crap! For those of you that have driven the PCH, you know that 162 MPH would be INSANE! He's lucky he didn't fly off the cliff! Quote »"It's straight as an arrow where the accident was," he said. "You really have to go out of your way to hit a telephone pole."Ok, nm...I know what PART of Malibu they're talking about, and no, it's not nearly as bad as I thought it could be. heh.

That's the thing about truly wealthy people, they don't use THEIR money if they can help it...From my original post "a Scottish bank says it might own the destroyed car."

A car worth $1mil is most DEFINITELY insured. If someone can afford a $1mil Enzo, then surely he can afford a $50,000 insurance policy.Quote »"a Scottish bank says it might own the destroyed car." Ahh, that's right. Then I can gaurantee that it IS insured...no way in hell a bank grants an auto loan without requiring insurance.

ANOTHER UPDATE!It just keeps getting more bizarre.Quote »... prosecutors filed embezzlement, grand theft, drunken driving and weapons charges against ... Swedish businessman ... Bo Stefan M. Eriksson, 44, a former executive with the European video game company Gizmondo. ...They charged Eriksson with three counts each of embezzlement and grand theft for allegedly bringing two Enzos and a Mercedes McLaren SLR - altogether worth an estimated $3.8 million - into the United States even though he had only leased them from British financial institutions. The lease contract prohibited him from taking the vehicles out of Great Britain, said Deputy District Attorney Steven Sowders. ...(He) pleaded not guilty through his attorneys and was ordered held on $5.5 million bail. It isn't over yet!Quote »Second Swede arrested in Ferrari saga; Eriksson awaits trialWednesday, May 03, 2006By Hans Laetz / Special to the Malibu TimesFerrari fiasco opens door to federal and state investigators, as Stefan Eriksson admits he was behind the wheel of the $1.2 million Enzo Ferrari that crashed on PCH several months ago. The Swedish national could face up to 14 years in prison. The international case of intrigue and legal maneuvering that started with the spectacular Enzo Ferrari wipeout on Pacific Coast Highway two months ago has again escalated with the arrest of a second Swedish businessman on related charges, and prosecutors revealing their case against Stefan Eriksson in a Los Angeles courtroom on Monday....Eriksson's bond was lowered from $5.5 million to $3 million, and he would be confined to his house with an ankle bracelet if he is released. But federal officials have placed a hold on his release, until he answers possible illegal immigration or other federal charges. You mean he snuck across the border IN A FERRARI ENZO??? Yes, even in a million pieces, this Enzo lives... It shall NEVER die! 194 MPH is just fricken crazy! Thankfully he didn't hit anybody at that speed or anything up to that speed, I don't even want to think about that... Give him the chair! The chair! What an idiot...
