Newbie with some performance ?'s for AWD Vibe

Post by Herbied143 »

Hi, I just signed up here. I've got an '04 Vibe AWD. I've put 66K incredibly trouble-free miles on it Now that the warranty is but a memory I'm looking to do some performance enhancements, nothing crazy. I have a Borla Cat-Back exhaust waiting to be put on (Borla doesn't know if it will work for the AWD version and want me to figure it out for them {the company I work for is a distributor for Borla so I get to do some things}). Anyone else put on of these on an AWD version? What other mods would the experienced Vibe community recommend, CAI, ECU/Chip upgrade?Looking at some the upgrades folks have done to thier Vibe on this site I'm very impressed and know the community here has the knowledge and expertise to help me go forward in this. Thanks for listening (or reading in this case).Herb,

I don't see why it wouldn't. Did you get the base or the GT exhaust? The only problem I could see is the rear axel throwing off the alignment a little depending on how thick. I've never seen the underside of AWD.I don't own an AWD but I have a base Vibe with a GT exhaust system. Bought it off a friend and completely forgot his was a GT. The GT pipe is 1/4" wider I beleive. All I had to do was put a new flange on the end of the Borla to reduce the diameter to my base's center pipe. Cost about $5 and took 10 minutes tops to make the adjustment.

Welcome to GenVibe! It most likely will not work due to the fact that the AWD has independent rear suspension and the exhaust pipe is routed underneath the rear suspension while the 2WD exhaust is routed above the rear suspension. The only option we have is to go custom. Maybe you can get Borla to make a custom catback for the AWD'ers. I know people on here and on Mtrix Owners would love that. Here is my custom AWD exhaust pic:
