apple being sued over ipod nano

Post by northvibe »

So i just saw the news on tv about the suing apple for the ipod nano.so they are suing because they say it scratches to easy. i shake my head in anger at those people. 1. its a very nice piece of electronic godness, you want a cover on it!! you pay enough for a it, take care of it!2. apple should ship a pda screen like cover for it, its cheap way to save on scratches3. (removed) this is what made me flip. the guy they interviewed compares this to GMC hahah ok so here he goes. "if GM made a car with paint problems they would recall it!" HAHHAH i yelled at the TV what about the vibe you idiot!! this was in the UMD food court :S i hope no one heard me......4. the psp is the same way, if you dont take care of it, you can scratch it AND/OR break the lcd screen very easy!this stuff makes me so mad how people sue over stuff they do them selves....uh ok ranting over now all of you can rant

Regular iPod should be recalled too, they are total junk just like iBook laptops. My daughter's ipod was returned under warranty after 2 months and the replacement is no better than the original. The batteries are useless and the functions of the iPod itself do not work properly. All her friends have had similar problems. Her screen was scratched in 2 days and that is with a cover. Her school gave out iBook laptops to her class in grade 7 as a pilot project. Out of 46 computers, 41 were defective and had to be repaired numerous times. Her's was returned 4 times with a down time of 2-3 months each time. We finally told them to keep it as it was useless. The Apple company sucks.

I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say the entire company sucks...and actually, no one I know has had a negative experience with Apple. I've had my iPod for 2.5 years and it still looks brand new when I take the case off...not a scratch anywhere, screen or otherwise. I have an iBook laptop and I've never had a single problem out of it, nor have all the people who have bought one on my recommendation. I'm betting the ones the school had were the G3 iBooks which had a major logic board problem that Apple is continuing to offer a free repair for. I know one person who had his iBook repaired under this program and that's the only time it's ever been "in the shop."

Hopefully they will produce the new iPods in a magnesium enclosure with a mica-injected, iridium coated polycarbonate screen. I know people will be all over the new $599 price due to production costs for increased durability.

Hopefully a competitor will come out with a decent product and blow them out of the water for the same amount or less than an iPod.

It's been tried. The problem is that the iPod came first, is easy to use and performs well for the price. I've used a number of other audio players and haven't liked anything of them as well as either of my iPods. But anyway, on the topic at hand, I think the whole lawsuit is crazy. Supposedly the iPod mini scratches easily too, but mine is now several months old and hasn't got a single scratch. It's all in how you care for things.

My wife got me a G5 60gig for Yule. It stay in it's case (with a see-through window) on it, unless it's in the cradle. On top of that, it's in a padded digital camera bag when not in use. $399 is a lot of money, and I'd be a blithering idiot to not take care of it; and that's how I feel about this lawsuit....blithering idiots that don't take care of their toys. As far as the screw Apple comments.....I tried a cheaper MP3 player, it was a P.O.S., I won't name names, but Kia makes a car with the same name. You get what you pay for, and Apple invented a very nice, easy-to-use device, they deserve Kudos, not this trashing.

The lawsuit is pretty ridiculous, you need to do some research when going into a decision like that. If you take care of your equipment it will look nice for a long time. And you have to expect some wear and tear. If you are overly concerned about scratches then buy a freakin case for it!!! The only reason why Ipods are so popular is Apple's advertising. I see at least two or three ipod commercials everyday and almost zero for any other mp3 player. And everybody caters to them as well, how many attachments do people come out with that are run off of it. I just saw a news article about a company in England that made a vibrator attachment for the ipod. Not to mention the podcasts. The ipod is not a better product than any other out there it is just marketed better.

ipods are like civics. way too much aftermarket support for them to loose popularity. on the other hand, they are useful and stylish. i don't have one, but have come across them. nice little gadgets.

the ipods have always scratched. every single one of them all the way back to the original 5GB model. i'm on my second (original 20GB, 60GB ipod photo), and both of mine are covered in scratches in spite of having lived their whole lives in protective cases. i don't think i've ever seen an ipod (other than the mini) that wasn't covered in scratches. however, until they started making them in black, nobody complained. when you scratch the clear plastic on a white ipod, the scratch is white and isn't very noticable. however, when you scratch the clear plastic on one of the new black ipods (any model), you get a nice, obvious white scratch. remember, the complaints about this stuff were never this vocal until the black nanos were released.

There must now be many women walking around Great Britain with big smiles on their faces, no? I've read that women are more apt to multi-tasking, but I didn't think that the iPod would become such a diverse entertainment device! But anyway, I'm not very compatible with Apple products myself, so I'd prefer to wait for another company to come out with a good, competitive product. Though the people that I know who have iPods seem to be quite happy with them. But afterall, Eve tempted Adam with an Apple, and look what that got us! j/kI agree that the lawsuit is ridiculous and I hope that it is thrown out before it even clogs up our court system even further for lack of merit. If you drove your car (regardless of the manufacturer) along a brick wall, why would you expect it to be covered by a recall? Bad things happen when devices like the iPod are carried in pockets, purses, and other assorted carrying bags along with things like keys, coins, pens, and who knows what else. If they want to complain about the finish on electronic devices, they should see my last 2 cell phones. The first one I paid $350 for, which I believe places it at a higher cost than a nano. They're a mess because of the keys and coins I carry in my pocket all the time, but I'm not about to sue Motorola over it.

"That's ok, this thing has a warranty - that means I don't have to take care of it! I'll just beat the crap out of it, and when it breaks or starts to look like crap, I'll make them give me a new one! That's what a warranty is for, right?" Yep, I gotta love people who try to scam the company who made the product they have purchased, all because they made the choice to neglect the product instead of taking care of it. Quote, originally posted by Stang2Vibe »Bad things happen when devices like the iPod are carried in pockets, purses, and other assorted carrying bags along with things like keys, coins, pens, and who knows what else. You're not kidding! It seems just about every device I've had has encountered more damage from transportation than they had received from actual usage! If you're going to carry something around, you need to either expect damage to occur or take precautions to prevent damage to the device from occurring. Simple as that. I've made the mistake before of not bothering to provide adequate protection for a few devices here and there when carrying them around, and I have paid dearly for it. But like you, I didn't go whining to the manufacturer about it, demanding freebies and such... It's not their fault that I'm a lazy bum and didn't bother to put forth the extra effort to make sure my stuff didn't get wrecked! Why the hell should they be responsible because I'm an idiot? I'd like to know how many of these "defective" units had no case on them... Probably a bunch! The materials the iPod is made of are good - but they aren't bulletproof! You still need to handle them with care. If you want to keep an iPod in your pocket, don't want to see it look like crap and you don't want to use a case - go buy a Shuffle! But if you still demand a screen and you want to beat the crap out of it and not have to gripe about the thing showing evidence of you abusing it, go spend three grand and get this to play your tunes with:Too bad that won't fit in your pocket though. So, just strap it to your back, plug in some headphones and you're all set!

WOW! Another group of morons refusing to show some personal accountability. Them suing apple over scratches THEY could have prevented is like michael moore suing a spoon manufacturer for making him fat!As for the comments on Apple and their product quality being inferior are concerned thats a laugh. Apple consistently maintains the highest customer satisfaction ratings on their products. They also have the highest customer service/support rankings. The only consistancy I see with microsoft based products is consistant quality control issues. There is one thing that windows offers that Mac doesn't, but I dont think I miss it..........

His friends at the ACLU might file a lawsuit on his behalf now.Did you know that Michael Moore used to exclusively use Apple computers? He had to switch to IBM compatibles, though, because he kept eating all the Apples.
