I cannot help with the woofer dilemma...but depending on what you get, I might be able to sell ya the amp to run it...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

yes i have heard of 6" woofers. i dont know how effective they are. and if you are cost concious i really can't help you out. take a trip to canadian tire i guess - if u aren't looking for major boom. otherwise go to a professional - where there is a certified installer. another option is to just upgrade your factory door speakers. i believe they are only 17.5W and if u get a good set of components the RMS should be near or above 50W - that will give you more bass. nothing like what a good quality big woofer can provide - but if i got it right you don't want major rattle.(IMO good door speakers throughout would be more effective than keeping the factory speakers and adding a 6"-8" woofer)sorry can't be much of a help, good luck with your search.

I used a computer self-powered subwoofer for my Vibe. I had purchased the Cyber Acoustics model CA3080 for $15 at Staples, and was so impressed with the subwoofer on my PC, I purchased another one to try in the Vibe. It is small, runs off 12 volts with no problem, and I got the audio off one of the rear speakers. It has only a 4" subwoofer but has a built-in 26-watt amplifier, and gives me all the bass I need in the Vibe. (Note: I did not use the other 2 speakers, just the subwoofer).http://www.cyberacoustics.com/...ABD8B

The input is a standard mini stereo plug, seen in the pic. You can use the cables supplied to change the mini plug to RCA inputs.I do have the box sitting in the cargo area, tied to a bungie net, but have no pictures as yet. Actually, the woofer and amp are small enough that you could probably take them out of the box and mount them in a cavity or wheel well. The 8" cube box is used basically to chamber/amplify the sound. I have not found it obtrusive yet, but is easily disconnected if I have to remove it.

I think your describing a Bazooka tube. A nice 6" long throw woofer does give you extra thump. I had one in the back of my mustang GT. It was very efficient - I had it hooked up to a weak amp but still put out good sound. You can buy them with or without an internal amp. Check out Crutchfield for more specs... then shop around for best prices. You can mount them using tiedown straps, so when you need to remove it for more storage, simply unplug and unstrap.http://www.crutchfield.com/bra...zookaThey have an 8" + amp for under $200, or just a simple 6" sub for under $100.You won't get deep base, but if I remember correctly, it'll be more than what you get with the OEM sub in the +05's.

I second the Bazooka idea. I have a RS8A-HP model. It's going on 7-8 years old and still sounds great. It's an 8" with a 150 watt internal amp and it has more than plenty of bass for me. They have a less expensive line with less powerful internal amps which may suit you fine as well. I'll find the link to my post showing my install. It doesn't take up much space in the trunk, didn't require any drilling at all, and can be removed very easily when you need the space.edit: Here is the link: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=18348

And because of the light given off, I never forget to shut down the speakers when I am done, unlike other speakers that only have a small LED light or no light at all.
