ok. let me start by saying how much i want HID's, but i want auto light more so than.anyways.. i've been trying to come up with a way to power up the lights automatically while getting rid of the ballast damaging DRL.ok, i have an idea. when i bought my auto dimming mirror. (00 yr gran caravan) The assembly came with a seperate peice. it clips onto the mirror mount. it looks to me like a light sensor. actually it's a clear glass covers diode. a 1 way diode at that. it's marked on the board. it goes into the mirror housing, and then it sems to have an output of some sort. it's clearly marked "sky" on the pigtail connection.i tried to see what output or input it would generate with light and without. no go. it provides a ground either way. but it was artificial light. the moonroof light actually. (it was dark out)so tomorrow in the day time i will check if there is a different reading with sun.does anybody out here know if the 2000+ caravans were available with auto lights? or even if any of you have a similar idea to work with?i figure if posible i could use the sensor witha timed relay to power up the lights. i can runa parallel circuit to power on with the sensor and still have control with the alreadfy there.here is a pic of the sky sensor.
