TRD intake vs. Injen

Post by Puckman27 »

any difference between the TRD CAI or the Injen for the Vibe GT? Do you guys think the TRD is a good buy if i can get it for about $150?

Let me tell you, I have seen firt-hand how much better the TRD fits over the Injen. If I could find a good deal I would replace my Injen with a TRD quick, especially if you are going S/C.

Injen one fits fine in my Vibe and no cel lights. I've heard different stories about TRD ones but those were on the Vibe GT. I got the base.

One big advantage: Injen's is C.A.R.B. exempt, TRD's isn't made for a Vibe, so it's only exempt on the Matrix.

I have an Injen CAI on my GT and the CEL was on for the first hour or two of driving (over a period of about two days) and it hasn't been on since.

how does one intake throw a cel and another not? that makes no sense... they're just empty pipes, and we plug in the air sensor! i yi yi

i think its because you have more air going into the intake, so the computer needs to relearn the mix.

I got the Ingen CAI from P-Tuning and never had a CEL problem with it. It just dropped right into place on install and the filter wasn't really that bad to get to...just takes a little work. I wouldn't go for the short-ram. A) it looks kinda cheesy and B) i want COLD air, not hot air from the engine bay...after all...that's the whole reason for the CAI right? But hey, that's just me...to each their own. That's the beauty of modding a car.

yeah i dont quite get the point of a short air intake. i had one on my grand am, all it did was make it sound a lil better. other than that i think it took power away cuz its sucking the hot air in, unlike the factory setup that had a cover over it and it was sucking in somewhat cooler air. anyhoo, i know i was asking about the TRD and Injen intakes, but whats up w/ the AEM for a GT? it seems like nobody has it.

Most CAI systems on vehicles do not throw codes... I have had two on my cars and never a code with them. The computers relearn themselves or you can force a relearn by disconnecting the battery. Since it seems GT's are susceptible to codes using a CAI, I would be interested in knowing exactly what the code was or the verbiage of the actual code shown, defined in the service manual.
